    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Getting ready to put spoke wheels on the 750/1100 projectile. I have a nice pair of wheels, and an ugly set, so I have two rear spoked rims. Thinking about putting one rear rim on my front wheel, both ends of the bike would have 18 x 2.15 wheels.
Avon Road Riders, and I will be riding the hell out of them. Possibly Pirelli Sport Demons.

100/90-18 front and 120/90-18 rear sound about right? Is the 100 too skinny for the 2.15 wheel?

Would a 110 front and a 130 on the rear be too wide for the rear rim?

Any suggestions?
 
The stock front wheel on an '82 1100 is a 2.15 and it wears a 100/90 tire just fine.

The 130 rears usually fit on a 2.50 wheel, so I would think that you don't want to go over a 120.

Actually seems a bit too large as my chicken strip should only be about 1/2 that wide. I put it on just before the Shasta rally, so it got a good scrubbing in


That's the size I'd use

Up front, go 110/90 -18
 
Can't you put a 100/90/19 on the original front or are you specifically looking to lower the front end?

I could use those standard sizes, and I don't want to lower the front, just thought the smaller rims would make the steering quicker.

Not sure if it would have the desired effect, or just make it handle funny.
Anybody know?
 
It probably would & would move weight to the front a little although the fatter tyre might slow it down a bit too so prob come out about quits.....
 
I don't believe the front would be lowered significantly. looking at the BT45 as an example.

if you are looking at a 100/90-19 the diameter is 26.1"
the 110/90-18 diamter is 25.8"
the difference on the radius which would be the amount the front is lowered is only 0.15" which I think would be insignificant.

Bridgestone like most tire manufacturers will list the rime size each tire model and size is rated for. the BT45 in 110/90-18 is rated to fit rim widths 2.15-3.00

correspondingly if your rear is on the same 2.15 rim BS recomends the widest BT45 as the 110/90-18 as well. if you have a 2.50 rim then a 120/90-18 would be acceptable.

When choosing tires I would always reference the manufacturers data when trying to determine if a specific tire size will work on a given rim.
