If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Will 1000G intake boots work on a 1000E/S?

G carb boots have a right and left, and also angle down. The 1980 1000E/S (CV carbs) use the same boot on all four cylinders. Anyone know if the G boots will work on my S and allow the airbox to fit up?

I have no idea, but you can compare the part numbers and figure it out using the online fiches at http://flatoutmotorcycles.com

Don't use BikeBandit's fiches for comparisons -- they use their own bastard numbering system to keep you from comparison shopping.

Its my understanding that the G and E carbs are slightly different in spacing...Not that this would prevent you from using them, but I wonder if the bend in them is different because of that?

Same carbs and same head
should work
I looked up the part numbers and there is a right and left. If anything they will fit better :hand:

Oh DOH! You are right, For some reason i read that as 1100E/S thinking he was talking about some off a 16v motor...

I'm not worried about the carbs fitting onto the engine, it's the alignment to the airbox that has me scratching my head. The G boots are pretty short, need to find an E to compare to. Guess I'll be bugging Dan pretty soon to check out his bikes...

The G boots are shorter than the E. The airbox may ride higher or lower in the frame also. Sar

The inner two have the same part number so how can they be shorter?

I think it will probably work but I'm not 100%... From memory the G angle is only about 3 degrees across the carb end face. Welcome to come for a look at the G anytime.

Dan :)

I show 1000G as using two lefts 13120-49100 & two rights 13110-49100. I don't see any "inners" or "outers".
I show 1000E as using all four 13110-49010.
I didn't check GS1000GL because that wasn't the question. Dar

I must of misremembered. :o
Thanks

Had a good look at some photos Russr33 sent me a while back of his 1980 1000S and it looks like the intake boots on his bike are not angled downward like the G boots. Considering how difficult it can be dealing with misalignments with a stock airbox, I’m going to just go ahead and bite the bullet and order up the right parts. It’s only money…
