If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Ok this winters project has been a BLAST.I took the motor out of the bike and sand blasted it and repainted it.I took the carbs apart and soda blasted the bodies before i dipped each one. After the dip they were cleaned and reassembled and bench synced along with valve shim adjustment .The pictures show the motor with old covers on them.I tried my hand at sanding and buffing the covers and to me im very satisfied how they turned out.i will add pictures of the completed motor with the chrome covers afterwards.I used duplicolor engine paint and put on 3 coats and i am very pleased with the results just have to see how it looks after it heats up lol.. Before i sand blasted the motor i took a cereal box and made gaskets just for the purpose of not wasting good gaskets. I know its not very detailed listing but i will answer and questions to the best of my knowledge and take any criticism as a learning experience. i know you all like pictures so here is the link to the 23 i have so far. Thanks for looking and stay safe:lol:

Well done. Fine job sir. Now shoehorn it back into the frame and lets see watcha got.

Cheers,
Spyug

Nice work, hows the rest coming? After seeing those carbs, I consider myself lucky. Yuck.:-& Is that green color, alge? I got a 750 project waiting in the wings, that has a green alge tint to it, from sitting under a tree for about 5 years. Or at least thats what I was told.

What equipment did you use for the soda blasting?
Keep up the good job!

I used a smaller blaster made by craftsman and I bought armex maintenance formula xl soda from harborr frieght.

The motor was put back in last night. Was nice to have the help (strength) of my 19yr old son lol

They eat us out of house and home, leave a mess everywhere and generally run the place like a hotel so they've got to be good for something. Luckily, I have one somewhat similar, a bit older at 29, stands about 6'2" and 190 lbs of solid ( and I do mean solid... 6 days a week at the gym) muscle. My human crane. I once picked up a spare 750 engine which took 2 of us to put in the hatch of my Focus. Muscle bound kid reaches in and pulls it out like a case of 24. No fuss , no muss.

With the mechanical genius of the engineer daughter and muscles of the lad, I figure I've got most problems covered. Now if I could only teach the old lady to cook I'd be quite content :)

cheers,
spyug

Have you tried SOS pads (specifically) on the pipes? Not Brillo, not 000 steel wool..nothing but SOS. They're soapy and soft enough to not scratch, but might remove the rust on there safely. I've even used SOS pads on glass.

I just found you thread and will be watching. Is this the 1100gk my tail piece came off of? That motor is sure clean now!

I bet hearing that engine fire was a pretty good feeling after all that work. Good going!
