A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

wiring 1100 g

not sure what year the 1100 is that I have. Its at a friends house and dont have the engine engravings, frame, vin to look at.I think they were made 80 to 84. The former owner completely hacked the wiring harness. A smart friend of mine hooked up enough for it to start and run. It needs the pods off, airbox put bak on after I buy one, then stock jets. I have an 850 G parts bike. I know the airbox wont work. I think the 850 has 32mm and the 1100 has 36. If I pull the harness from the 850 would it work on the 1100? The 850 sat out for over 20 years so even as a parts bike its not great. On my 80 gs 1000 I looked inside the headlight bucket and a jillion wires were there. I saw a article on chopper wiring but doubt I could do that. I just need ignition, coils, regulator, rectifier, headlight tailight and brakelight and horn to work. The former owner didnt just cut some wires, he took a handful and snipped them all off the same length.so I have to have a harness. ebay has sone for 80 to 130 dollars. I also will use a bunch of good grounds and a 4 gauge battery cable if possible. I remember black wire with white stripe is a ground wire, and solid brown, not chocolate but tan were usually hot wires.Ignition on hot. Is that correct? Thanks for all input.

There’s an 82-83 1100G Color wiring diagram on BikeCliffs Website. Link in my signature.
