So some of you know, that "I'm doing my own thing" when it comes to my GS.. I have been struggling with the carbs, tuning, and being more frugal with this build than maybe I should... Well, I took the carb to head boots off last week, to give them a lookie lookie... the area where the clams go looked a little misshapen... so I boiled water and plopped em in for a few minutes... pulled them out and they looked much better. I also ordered new clamps, but they hadn't arrived so i trued the old ones as they were misshapen... With the carbs off I looked closer at the carb to boot fit... I had a feeling I might not have been seating all the way, and if that was the case, the clamps weren't effectively sealing and causing the boots to loose their shape... I replaced orings, a little lube on the boots, and slide the carbs back on, tightened the clamps..this all happend last Wednesday.... I took it for a ride yesterday OMG! what a difference! not perfect, some hesitation/ bogging at 5/8-3/4 throttle but before it was at 3/8 throttle... idled much better also as expected and much smother, no popping at all. I'm slammed at work this week and cant wait to tune and re-synch the carbs to get closer. I also ordered some shims for the needle and will play with that... right now I'm middle notch and all jets are factory.
