I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

It that a Deckel? I see German writing on the spindle.

I think it might be. Haven't actually thought about it. I'll have a look tomorrow when we're going to finish up the muffler.

Finished up the tube for the muffler today as well as the link-pipe between the collector and muffler.

Really happy with the welding though (no close ups unfortunately), didn't look like bird **** like it does sometimes when your hand can't stay still...

While I welded the pipe, my dad took care of the lathe work. The tube was 90x5mm (80mm inside) and needed to come down to 85x2.5mm (still 80mm inside).

Cut made to fit the rear flange to the muffler...

Gonna make the end caps tomorrow and cut it down to size (260mm). Hopefully I'll have a shot of the finished product then as well. :)

Significant improvement to what I had before I think.

I LOVE the way that you have tucked in the exhaust!
When I re-do one of mine, I was just going to eliminate the rear triangle of frame (GS model) just behind the front pegs as that was the "weak link". (only place that I hit hard parts)

Update: turns out it wasn't a Deckel. Oh well, it's a good mill either way. :)

Anyway, managed to finish up the end baffles for the muffler today.

Man am I happy.

I'll get some pictures of the individual parts up later tonight.

298mm full length (200mm tube). I suspect it will be loud enough...

Turned a nice cone inside the end baffle so it flows together with the flange a bit.

54mm straight through.

DSC_0009-25.jpg

Gonna be awesome once I get the link pipe cut down to size.

I wouldn't say so loud. The old one was 60mm straight through with only a bit of fiberglass padding inside. This one will have plenty more damping material and has "only" a 54mm inside diameter. Then again, the outward-facing cone will amplify the sound a bit...

The ignition cover is from a guy called Lloyd, he runs a small company in the UK that does custom billet stuff for oldschool bikes.

The Yoshimura ignition covers were part of a small batch he did but I suppose he could make more. Doesn't hurt to send him an email. :)

Some more shots...

Front baffle.

Loosely fitted to the bike (a bit tight in the front baffle, need to open the hole up a bit more).

Dunno about you but I love it.

That purple Miyata in the background has some shifters pushed way close together. Don't know about you but I find that very uncomfortable riding.

Muffler is cool as ell tho!

It's my dads bike so I'm not overly concerned by it. :D

Will you adopt me and build parts for my bikes? ;)

Daniel

Sorry Daniel, we're a lower middle-class family of five. Can't afford another mouth to feed. :p

Can a mod move this thread to the Projects/Rebuilds subforum?

Great looking pipe, awesome job so far man! That pipe is a bit too high for my taste though.10 cm lower, and you got it!

It's a bit lower now. The end cap was a bit tight over the pipe so I had to open it up a bit more in order to fit the muffler properly.
