definitely worth that price in the skills you pick up along the way.

Agreed. Feels awesome to be able to work with stuff in the garage that would normally require hours of going back and forth between the garage and the workshop at my old man's work.

I wish I was as skilled as you are...
My sincere congratulations!

You know, I think anyone can become an able bike builder, welder, painter or whatever given the proper interest and the proper tools. I've had the good fortune of having a father who is very interested in both cars and bikes so most of what I know (theoretically) I've gotten from him but practical stuff I've learned by myself with some guidance. ;)

Resumed work on the exhaust hanger today. I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

Gonna turn some bungs on the lathe which will go on the tube ends which will then be bolted to the subframe using two pop-nuts. Gotta say though, being able to weld steel, stainless, aluminium and titanium in the garage is quite luxurious.

Gonna order some nice locking nuts from Pro-Bolt now I think. Wouldn't want to ruin the exhaust with anything less than titanium nuts. :D

Mindless, I've managed so far to avoid replying to your thread... no idea how because I've followed it for ages.

That exhaust is just plain awesome, and that bracket will definitely suit it to a T.

I absolutely love the pipe the local guys at Tranzac here made for me, but that one of yours is on a whole different planet... completely different end goal too of course :D

Managed to finish the exhaust hanger tonight. Turned out really good.

Started out earlier today by turning two bungs on the lathe which would then bolt to the frame (using two 6mm pop nuts (rivets that are threaded on the inside)).

After that it was just a matter of notching the tubes at the proper angle to get them flush against the bungs. Took a while to get it 100%.

Then I tacked it up, removed the bracket and welded it on the side. Funny how the welds you wont see always turn out the best....

Here's what I ended up with.

Bolted to the frame. The blue dots you see was where I originally intended to put it but this was a much better idea.

Gonna start working on the bodywork this week I hope. I want to start putting paint on the bike soon...

That bracket is a piece of art... just like the exhaust... can't wait to see her done and rolling again :D

Thanks guys. :)

Started sketching up the new seat pan today. I'll be remodeling the rear end of the bike a bit to convert it to a single seat (I'm the only one who's going to be riding anyway) and just have a thin padded race seat for myself.

Here's the rough layout of the seat.

I'm going to make some sort of frame under the seat pan that rests against the rear subframe. Then I'll find some neat way to lock everything in place with some dzus fasteners.

More to come...

Got the two titanium bi-hex nyloc nuts today for the exhaust hanger. Looks spot on now. :)

Those nuts are the ducks guts of nuts for sure... titanium hey? Wow...

And I find cardboard extremely handy for mock ups just like you've done there, my whole exhaust was mocked up in cardboard first ;)

Very nice. When are you coming to California? I have plenty of work for you.:) El G.

Well, I figured if I have already spent $2000+ on a titanium exhaust, what's another $20 on two flanged nyloc nuts? :p

Thanks El G.

Borrow me one of your bikes while I'm there and I'll come over whenever you want me to. ;)

My My. It just keeps getting better and better. If that's even possible.
My only gripe is that exhaust. The angle looks pointed too skyward for my tastes. But I can't argue the quality, fit, and finish. Absolutely stunning.
Almost leaves me speechless.

"Pop Nuts"

"Pop Nuts"

Looking at this guy's craftmanship make one's nuts pop. :D

Pankake: The angle of the exhaust looks a bit exaggerated in some pictures. It doesn't look as bad in real life.

Battleship62: No pun intended? :D

Pretty much done with the template for the seat pan now. Some minor adjustments then it's just a matter of transferring it over to some 4mm aluminium sheet. :)
