Thanks! It's good to be back - this really is an incredible forum and group of riders.
There isn't much room to wind out the bike. There are a few highways but I do spend a lot of time in 2nd and 3rd. I do often ride around the coast between Honolulu and Kailua (72), and across the mountains between the two (Pali, Likelike, H3.) And I'll be riding up to North Shore a lot (H2). But yeah, this is the reason I sold my baby GSX-S1000F. I was physically ill after selling that bike but there's just no sensible reason to have a liter bike here. The Street Triple (675) is really snappy so it's still fun to ride. I have a 170cc scooter which is highway capable but not highway comfortable, so the ST does feel pretty appropriate.Last edited by Joe Garfield; 04-18-2022, 11:40 PM.

Changed the Bandit’s fork seals and installed new Sonic Springs this weekend. Now to go find a 350 mile test route so I can hit the magic number on the odometerCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

I started assembling that 72 R5C i sold 2 years ago to a buddy. wasnt anything except a painted frame this morning.....

After 10 years of the 712 Shinko, I think I've saved enough money to buy a Pirelli Sport Demon and compare it to Shinko. Worth the extra money?.
So far I can say the Pirelli is V rated, has thicker stiffer sidewalls and carcass.
Bead did not seat so easy, had to work on that.
The brand name is more legend, plus the tread pattern is mo pretty.

Bummer on this. Crack appeared about a hundred miles ago.
I suppose it can be glued together.

@ BuffaloBill- be extremely careful with any solvent to clean it AND the solvent in the glue...the paint on the plastic is very vulnerable. I recall bad experience with alcohol or acetone causing very bad smears ...I don't think I'd even trust water now-it could easily leave stains if nothing else.
Whichever glue you try, do try in a small test where it won't show- I'd go for epoxies first and really, for strength and reliability I'd favour JBweld (classic grey) and no cleaning whatsoever. yes, there'd be a line where the crack is. I might try other epoxies that might look better than gray but anyways, be warned.

Yesterday I balanced the carbs and rebuilt the petcock on my 750. And finally got to take it on a proper road test. Ran way better than I expected, made it 75 miles without a hitch.- 1983 GS850L ~ 30,000 miles and going up - Finally ready for a proper road trip!

Was trying to fix my wonky turn signals on my 1100E, took the turn signal switch apart to clean the contacts only to have it fly apart scattering the tiny springs etc across my garage floor. Found everything(?) put it back together carefully, as i was trying to reinstall the same thing happened again... this time I lost the little 3mm(?) ball bearing that gives the turn signal the side to side detent. My friend is sending me a good used switch from his moto salvage yard to replace missing pieces.Past GSes: '78 1000C, '79 750E, '81 1100E
Current: '79 XS1100F, '98 GSF1200S
