Had mine up to 180 km/h today on the way back from Jordan river. Top end of 4th, still pulling REAL hard. Speedometer goes to 240. I think I want to see if I can bury the speedo on the 110 stretches going up to Courtney this summer. Now that I have the carb jetting set pretty close and I know it wont lean out on the top end. BONZAI!!

Downloaded a nice GPS speedometer for my DROID Phone.....first off its nice to know my 1100E, 85 mph speedo is right on with the gps readings.
Also for sh*ts n gigs I wound her out on a decent stretch and hit 121 mph..... the strong acceleration slowed and I left it at that as I began into a slight grade and wasnt going to get much more very quickly.
              App is called Ulysse Speedometer.
It even has a option to time your own 0-60,0-100and 1/4 mile times and records your top speed without having to look at how fast you are going.
Also includes various other functions. Trip meter, compass, navigation.....on and on.
I know, great app to tell a bunch of delinquents about. Lol
              Use at your own risk

                180 km/h is 111mph and 240 is 149mph for us Mericans.

Had my GSX-1100EF over 120mph/200kmh a few times but didn't like it as it got a weave up and could wobble its little 16" front wheel going past that mark. Felt like an easy 150mph+ bike, probably more like 160mph or so.

My last GS850 never got a speed run as I only rode it a half dozen times before I sold it. Always regretted that - both selling and not giving her a good run!

                  Cheers - boingk

                    1 mile= 1.61 km. So... KPH/1.61= MPH.

I have had the Jack Daniels bike (GS1150 chassis) up to just shy of 165 MPH. Last time I had it on the scales it was 755 lbs. Guessing it weighs about 20 more now.

My GS1100ESD (711 left) with full fairing, VHR pipe, K&N filter, GS750 front end. Rest of bike is stock, so hand clutch, foot shift, no bars, stock wheel base, no slick. I weigh around 210 lbs. Street class is limited to 12.00 but this was all out.

                        kph x 0.621371 = mph

                        240 kph x 0.621371 = 149.129 mph

to convert mph to kph is x by 1.60934

                        149.129mph x 1.60934 = 239.999kph

Most I had out of my '79 GS850 was an indicated 130mph. It was doing it, no problem, but then I realised that what was doing it, was an engine that had well over 100K on it and there was an awful lot of fast whizzy bits under my ass that hadn't gone that fast in years (the bits, and my ass).
I chickened out after a few miles of that - apart from that, I was coming to the end of the bit of road I knew to be unpatrolled.
That was when it still had its factory slide carbs fitted. It did breathe well, that old engine.

Fast enough that it puts a smile on my face every time I go for a ride. Kind of like this

I had my first GS1000c back in 85. One day I decided to see how fast it would go, it had dyna coils and a Wolff factory racing header(open pipe). I rolled off once it hit 240 kmh, going up hill! I was 160 lbs and 18 yrs stupid
I think that was the fastest I ever went on the ground.
1978 Gs1085 compliments of Popy Yosh, Bandit 1200 wheels and front end, VM33 Smoothbores, Yosh exhaust, braced frame, ported polished head
1983 Gs1100ESD, rebuild finished! Body paintwork happening winter 2017:D

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.
