If you take a propane torch and heat the insides of the covers behind the emblems you can soften the glue and remove them by getting ahold of the edges with a utility knife blade. Then you can rehab the emblems or get newer ones to put on.

Was just going to repaint with them in place.May try that but with my luck I'd need to replace them.Think I'll stick to my plan. Thanks for the suggestion.

Decide before you put them back on the engine...wont waste any time or gaskets. I have NEW factory one for the points cover and if you wanted it to have silver letters i can remove the gold tinting from them.

The points side is in good shape, should come out nice.Stator side is the bad one.

Wonder why it is that the stator side seems to always take on a lot of abuse???

More people dump their bikes on the left side than the right from forgetting the side stand?

Greg, the way Chuck suggested is the only way to remove them.

evenly warm up the back side with a propane torch and catch under the edge of the emblem with a utility knife. apply a slight amount of pressure to the emblem but don't 'Gank' on it. when it's up to the correct temp the emblem will slowly pull away from the cover.

as our UK members would say... works a treat!

Dale taught me the trick. Once the emblems off,, a little direct heat to the residual glue and it will wipe mostly off with a shop rag.

So what do you put them back on with?Still thinking I would muck this up.Uncle Mike is on track I think, don't need to forget just not do it right.Suzuki's don't seem to like any downgrade on the side stand.
