DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello,

I bought this from a lady who's son left it covered in her garden for 2 years. It was in OK shape but paid only 250 for it.
I put a new solenoid, stator, regulator/rectifier to get the electric starter working.
Figured out the nuances of the vacuum petcock and have it set properly (the "dial" is offset by 22.5 degrees and so the "prime" and "down arrow" dont match what the petcock is actually doing)
I spent many hours on the carbs (cleaning, new jets, needles, float height, etc). I'm finally happy with the air/fuel and performance!
New tires, air filter, battery, and many other items were fixed. I love this bike!

My persisting problem is the gear indicator mechanism leaking oil. I've replaced the O'ring 2 times (from different ebay merchants). I looked at BikeCliffs website and searched the forum, but only found info on replacing the o-ring, nothing helping me with a leak that seems to be caused by something else in that mechanism.

i've taken the thing apart more than a handful of times, trying grease, cleaning the contact surface, everything looks good including the o-ring, but it continues to leak oil. I see the oil fizzing out near the bottom rear screw of the assembly. My last guess is that the plastic assembly has a sub-visible crack allowing oil to leak.

Is there something more common or more insidious that I am missing? Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Nick

That particular switch doesn't have a history of being problematic. Those parts seem to be all over ebay so maybe just grab one and see if that fixes the leak. And get an OEM O-ring while you are at it. Parts Outlaw is one of the forum favorite vendors for OEM Suzuki parts.

Well, I purchased a brand new OEM gear indicator switch, new OEM o-rings, and still have leaking oil. So I decided to try some other o-rings that are a bit larger (to get better deforming and better seal) since they are cheap, and nothing is working. I've cleaned the mating surfaces, tried all different ways of screwing it down. Nothing! Any ideas?

Thanks

Nick
