A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

...they seem to all have pop on deceleration. Exhaust pops with choke on as well and starting to fear I'm going in the wrong direction. I am going to live with the sound for now and just appreciate the muscle car sound.

You've reached the first plateau, Grasshopper. They all pop (on deceleration). But what about acceleration? Does it stutter, cough, stumble or hesitate? Does it pull strong from idle to red line?

I've just re-read where you say she's a little "jumpy" on acceleration. Is that a bad thing? Sounds like how Cycle World described it in July of '82. If you can get your hands on it, it's a great read.

They all pop (on deceleration).

Mine does too. And more so with 91oct than with 87oct. This after going through the carbs, new intake boots, valve adj, and carbtune sync.

I'll stay tuned to see how this plays out for Mr. rsquire

bonanzadave solidarity, brother. Will update if anything changes.

Rob S. Y’know, I think that mag might be something I’d like to own on paper. I’m gonna search. The bike idles smooth at ~1050 RPM and pulls hard all the way to red line, which I need to do more often.

A little snap crackle and pop on deceleration is normal for a carburetored machine, usually more noticeable the higher the RPMs are. I personally love it and wouldn't try to rid myself of the symphony. It can become obnoxious depending on how loud your exhaust is and how you ride, so I try to be considerate of others on the road when having fun. Although my 850 still has the factory exhaust so it sounds pretty castrated as it is. I used to have a 5.slow Foxbody that was fairly modified and used to run it open headers and listen to the crackle on deceleration.

Good lookin’ bike Trevor! Hoping to clean mine up to your standards soon. Do you have details on that fork brace?

The fork brace came with the bike....I blasted and painted it....it's old school and was around before the "modern" for braces that wrap around the forks....not sure how effective they are but I love the old school look. :)

They used to be sold as Muscle Braces, on this side of the pond.
I've seen them relatively recently as new stock, but I doubt it was the original maker and likely others copied it anyway.
