• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

OOhh, Can't tell from picture, but thinking must be a Harley??? Rob, remember the old DZ 302's available only in the Z28. factory rated at 290 HP, but when checked on dyno all seemed to be over 350 HP. Dang that was a long time ago

Shortly after a lowside in the early 2000s. Fairing remnants were removed, a crude mirror added and rides continued. This is one of my favorite pictures of the GS. Funny how time carries on. The bike is now in the approximate location of my sister's front porch.

Sorry Glen, but I see a mini GS. Something about the perspective, maybe the blurred background?

This could be yours too.

I thought a gas cap was liquid tight after sealing the internals with some rubbery gasket maker. I removed the lock and gooped up any venting holes and reassembled the cap. This held while I turned the tank upside down. An hour later, no drips, all is well. To protect the nearly perfect paint job, I laid an old bed sheet over a plastic tub and set the tank upside down on it, then left for a few hours. Where kerosene and paint stripper failed, the acetone proved very effective. It worked wonders dissolving the tank liner, eating through the sealant in the cap vent hole, and wicking it's way into the old bed sheet. It had enough time to cause this.........

So what did you do??? Were you able to get the goo off before it damaged the paint?

I turned the garage light out, rubbed my eyes and turned it back on, thinking, hoping, I was having a flashback. Nope! This was real! The paint is toast. I'll have to strip it down to bare metal and repaint it.

Here we go again.....

That pic was long enough ago for me to only know that it was shot on film. No idea on what lens was used, but zooms tend to "compress" space and I had one at the time for the old Pentax camera I was using. Cool scooter ornament. My first ride of the year happened last night on mine.

I'm as guilty as the next guy. But this thread is a mess for the guy who takes it upon himself to post the summary on Fridays. Any threads of chatter amongst and between the actual pic submissions has to be meticulously extracted in order to present a clean summation. I'm suggesting we try to do better in the new year and try not to fill this thread with anything but pic submissions, summations, and tallies. I know everyone has a lot to talk about and its fun to participate in side discussions of the pics that come up. But trust my when I say that doing the summation post on Friday is difficult enough without all the irrelevant (sorry, that's not really what I mean, but its the only word I could think of) chatter. Now I've added to it. :o And I suppose I'm inviting even more.:cower:

When on a trip, and all you own is in saddlebags, and this happens and no bike shop around....I know it's been used before.
