[GS750T] - Suzy is Fixed!

After trying for too long to get pods to work on Suzy (my 1982 GS 750T), I gave up and sourced the missing air box and air filter holder.

It took a *very* long time to squeeze everything back in.

But I got there.



Then I put all the bits I'd taken off on again.

And went for a test ride.

I was anxious, because if this didn't fix her 1/4 throttle onwards 'bog', I was out of ideas.

Well, that test ride turned into a 30-mile joyride.



She works.

She pulls like a freight train throughout the whole throttle range.

The difference is night and day!

I can't tell you what a joy she is to ride now.

Previously, I didn't have the confidence to overtake anything.

Now...

...She's an overtaking monster.

The last part of the puzzle is: where to get those nice shiny airbox covers?

The chrome covers are riveted to the plastic airbox in 2 places. If I had a pair I’d send them to you. It just doesn’t look complete without them. Good job on getting her running well again.

Yup the airboxes suck to get in and out but the Suzuki engineering is hard to top. No guesswork.

The chrome covers are riveted to the plastic airbox in 2 places. If I had a pair I’d send them to you. It just doesn’t look complete without them. Good job on getting her running well again.

Thanks for the info Rich. Riveted eh? Should be fun. So far, I've sourced parts from the USA, Japan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Wales, and Italy. Wonder where I'll find the chrome covers LOL =)

Yup the airboxes suck to get in and out but the Suzuki engineering is hard to top. No guesswork.

Night and day difference to performance =)

Thinking on most GS's that had the covers, the cover is a separate part and part # held on with screws... The GS750 "T" must be kind'f special.... Good luck, bike looks great,

I’ll look closer later. But it’s at least one screw on top, one rivet at the back, unknown fastener on the bottom. (I didn’t feel like getting on my knees to inspect )

I keep saying that pods absolutely suck for CV carbs unless you add an intake plenum. Good on you for putting the stock air box back in and being able to enjoy the bike again

Edit: Unfortunately, the chrome covers are part of the airbox as of the Suzuki parts fiche, they don't have their own P/N to search for.

Just realised, the air box and filter came off a GSX750S, so the covers might be easier to source. It came with a black one on the left-hand side, so I just need to make that one chrome and get another one for the right-hand side.

I didn't know that. But my experience with pods and CV carbs certainly backs you up. I inherited the pods on the bike when I bought it. Wish I'd ditched them right from the start and saved myself a load of trouble and wasted cash (she came with crappy pods and I thought K&N's would fix the problem). Oh well, every day's a school day =)
