A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Okay, photobucket logo now. Forget it, I don't know what I'm doing.

    Random Photo thread

A random photo...........no, it's not my Vespa, but my bike's the same color. Very high in Cortona, Italy a couple years ago.

I never liked the prominant radiator

You almost don't see it at all on the Silver Wing. Many years ago, I had an Aprilia for a couple years that was liquid-cooled, but until I bought the Triumph this year, that had been my only radiator experience.

    Hello

Wow!!! One of my favorite folks. Hope all’s back to well. No longer have a GS, but returned to my Triumph roots (but not those Triumphs).

Speedometer needle replacement - is it possible?

Nice job, especially considering the unbelievably sloppy condition some pig sent them in. I suspect you already have stainless front brake lines, no?

    77 Yammy XS 750 Triple

I had a ‘79. Handled squirrelly, but had nice torque. 2nd year did go out, but after I gave it to friend with 82K miles.

    Considering something European

Now that I'm able to ride again (hip got really bad, then had a hip replacement, but it took awhile to be back in the right position), I'm looking for more recent beast than a 1982. I was out on the GS today and amazed at how well it handled my complete lack of attention, so it should stay...

    Baffle removal

I couldn't seem to catch on anything at the end of the baffle with the threaded rod and washers approach. Instead, I looped some medium gauge wire between two of the holes at the end and twisted it around a piece of 2x4. Couple smacks with a 4# hammer and it slid right out. It's pretty...

    Baffle removal

Thanks, Steve. That makes sense and no treason to buy the hook. The hole on mine goes all the way though. I might just use one of my big deep-well sockets for the hammer.

    Baffle removal

This is my first time to remove a baffle. In about 50 years of bikes, I've either never had a bike long enough or just replaced the exhaust. 1982 GS1100e with a V&H Megaphone that has been getting too loud and I need to re-wrap the baffle. Since I can't just remove the bolt and slide the thing...

    Cleaning rusty chrome exhaust

What are the best methods people have used to clean rusty pipes (chrome - specifically V&H 4-1)? Mine are pretty nasty and I don't need to get them perfect. I've been trying a few things today - tin foil and water actually seems okay, shockingly - but I want expert opinions. Quick-glo? Has...

    The GSResources 2017 Balance Sheet

Pretty lame of me for slipping, but I took care of it.....I think my lack of contribution was somehow related to not being on a bike, but I'm back on today.

Would you buy a Yamaha XS 1100LH Midnight Special

Had a '79 XS750. Kept it for awhile after I had other bikes for a loaner, but I still managed to have 82,000 miles on it when I gave it to a friend who wanted any bikes. It was generally pretty solid, had great torque, and handled horribly - someone said it felt like the frame had a hinge in the...

    1972 Triumph Tiger TR6R value

Had one I paid $600, but that was 1984 so it doesn't count. A fair price is probably a bit closer to $3000. They're still cool, but those were oil-in-frame years and less choice (on QC as well) as 1967-9. He should also try to swap the bars out - those ape-hangers are period aberrations, but...

    Are Uggs proper motorcycle footwear?

I was actually able to kick start my Norton barefoot back then. California had no helmet law and I'd ride with shorts, no shirt,no shoes, no helmet. Clearly, no brains, either.
