A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • Depending on what direction I am coming from, when I get here I'm pretty darn close..........

    Hi Dave,
Hope everything in your world is well. In response to your post in the pic of the week game, yes, I have purchased a southern home. Back in November the wife and I were in Harrison, Arkansas seeing if there was anything that was what we could live with and sure enough, we found one. It's just on the northern outskirts of town and it is situated on a circle that has only 41 houses on it and there are no street lights, no sidewalks and the neighbors all seem to be the kind that mind their own business and don't intrude just to be nosey.

The lots in this circle all average just over 1/2 acre so the neighbors are not so close to be upsetting. I do have 1 neighbor right across the street from me but the side neighbors are far enough apart that there could be a house between us but that won't happen.

The weather for the most part is way better than Nebraska's weather. No snow blowers here and if we do get snow, it is in the 1-3" variety and usually gone either that afternoon or the next day. Plus I don't have to deal with the blowing winds everyday like I get in Ne. On the downside, the summers will be a little warmer and maybe more humid but hey, that's what A/C was invented for. Overall, I am looking forward to making the adjustment. Plus it's a bit shorter ride over to the Brown County rally which I will be attending again this year. Guess I'll see you there.

    Take care,

    Larry

But the real reason I wanted to be here is for the riding. It is a much longer riding season and real close to some of the best twisting, winding, curvy roads that one could ask for.

We are maintaining two houses right now as my wife is still working without looking down the road of retirement, which is fine with me. It is 425 miles between houses and only 6.5 hr drive between the two. I am in Arkansas this week as I usually come down here at least once a month and spend 7-10 days at a time doing little odds and ends
Dave, I changed the link in your Campfire thread on my VN chapters to the Catkilleronefive website which belongs to me. The fellow who operates the catkiller.org site is a good guy but a a bit on the religious side. There I had to remove any swear words which definitely distorts the reality of the communication.. When you are getting fired upon by multiple 50 caliber machine guns you don't exclaim "Oh Shucks." :)
Say Dave, did you replace the Detent Spring in the GK when you had the oil pan off?
I'll have the oil pan off my 1100G this winter and would like to improve the neutral position detent effect.
    Thanks! Bill
I thought you'd appreciate the update. As for finding a buyer, I posted it on CL and 2 prospective buyers responded. One recently sold his 750E and liked it so much that he wanted a larger GS. The other prospect, the guy that bought it was looking for a classic UJM for a buddy but liked it too much to pass on. Ironically, after telling a friend about it and hearing all about his '83 1100E, the buyer told him about mine. Now, he's interested in my E as well as a 2 other guys. Fwiw, I'm looking at asking $7k for my E. I have a feeling I'll get it.
Anyway, safe travels and stay in touch,
    Willie

Hey Dave. You going to come to the sw wi ralley? It will be a good time. No one will have a GK there. I'm going to ride my GSX this year. The carbs should be tweaked by then.

    Redman,album pics today,83 GS550ES,thanks for inspiration...
    Thanks Bill.
Will look at that. Am intersted to see how just replacing rings and honing cylinder inproves the comepression and proformance.
Have been occupied with other things going on and with the Greg-Tina situation (have rode with them 2 - 3 times, and done things with Greg on other occassion).
Did find my rattle and turns out it was also my exhaust putter putter. Bolt was loose and about to fall out on one exhaust pipe flange. That is why I could not find the exhaust leak underneath the bike, cuz it wasnt underneath the bike.
