A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi, do you sell the R/R SH775 on ebay or something like that or through this site?
    Hi Ed,

I would like a set of O'rings for my 82 GS650E. I live in Australia, I think just Australia is all the same price. If it makes a difference I'm In

Thanks for taking up the slack on these O'rings. I'm going to NZ in about 9 weeks and my GS650E is over there so Just in case i think these could be handy if not now in the future at least.

    Cheers,
    Doug, (650Skull).

Valves were looked at before all this happened… could that have something to do with just one Carb wouldn’t that affect them all?

Please send me a Private message if you want to discuss, instead of a Visitor message. I already posted in your forum thread about this issue.

Make sure your gas tank is clean and free from debris. It's possible that some crud in the tank has plugged up the pilot jet in the misfiring cylinder.

Ok… we’ve had the bike at my warehouse before we take it on the rides were making sure everything’s right with the carburetors we noticed number two from the left side is not firing I think the next thing to check would be is that carburetor getting fuel because spark seems to be there what do you think?

    Have you adjusted the valves?
I have a question: I have an 81 GS850 and an 81 GS1100e. Do these use the same o-ring set? I has always thought that the various CV carbs had different size o-rings. In either event, I will want a set of rings for each bike. Please send me information for ordering and I will send a check. Thanks a million for offering this very valuable service.

I responded via PM instead of VM. Please check your inbox.
    Hi Ed -

I'd like to order two o-ring kits -- CV/BS carb style, please.

Send me the info and I'll lob the money your way via PayPal.

I haven't needed to look at the innards of my GS850's carbs in 10-15 years, but people seem to show up here with sick motorcycles....

Ed, paypal payment has been sent. Please send o-rings to

Yes, the O-ring kits are coming soon. Send me a PM, not a visitor message, if interested.
Morning Ed, I have 2 pilot screws that go in and out like butter. and 2 that dont ! From what Ive read (you wrote) I just keep fussin with PBBlast and lube. Any other tricks ya got up your sleeve ? The 2 good ones are backed off 4 turns. Looking into the hole thats about right to the top of the threads. The other 2 will only go in about that far.......

Hi Dave, some heat, and make sure you have a tight-fitting screwdriver. Grind one as necessary, or the slot in the screw will get buggered fast.

Hi Nessism... I'm in Palos Verdes and SLC, and am looking for someone to rebuild my GS1000S engine. Know anyone in So Cal who's got a lot of air-cooled inline-four GS experience? Thanks! Mitch Boehm

Hey Nessism, how goes it? I'm writing because I've not heard back from anyone else regarding this subject and you seem to have a lot of answers.

I'm looking to maybe buy an 82 GS1100E, and I'd like to put a different tank on it. I don't care for the early days attempting to make real contour looking bikes :/ In looking at tanks on eBay, the G and L models, particularly the ones that have knee inserts from the factory, look to be wide enough on the underside to straddle the three member frame, and also have the two bolt mounting style. Do you know if those tanks are interchangeable?

Thanks for any feedback you might have!

Hello Ed, Beautiful S models...I've got an extra stock exhaust system for an '80 S...don't know what it's worth and would rather trade it to someone for a set of Ohlins piggybacks...thought I would ask you first since you are "connected"!!...thanks, Nick

Thanks Ed. For both. Merry Christmas!

    Ed,

I'd like to add an oil cooler to my 1981 GS750E. Can you point me to the info on how/where to connect it?
You went and took down a certain thread before I .... I mean WE, could read all of it. Boo.
