A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    AGM battery quality vs price

I just changed out 2 Yuasa AGMs. One in my ST1300 that was starting to get a little weak and one on my Rubicon 4 wheeler which was working fine but the age was beginning to worry me. Both were 10 years old. I've had nothing but good luck with Yuasa.

How fast is is your old GS?

Back in the day I had a new 1979 GS1000EN and had it up to an indicated 121 MPH. I also had a 1981 GS1100EX that I wicked up a number of times but it had a 85 MPH speedo on it. I lost count of how many times the needle hit the pin, but on just about every ride I believe.

    79' GS1000 petcock?

The petcock on my newly acquired bike is leaking and either needs to be repaired or replaced. In searching it appears that the K and L rebuild kits aren't very reliable in solving the problem. NOS OEM is almost $400 so it's out of the question. I think I read somewhere that an OEM petcock from a...

    1980 GS1100E Seat Trim

What I did on my 81' was grind the heads down on small machine screws and install a small washer and insert them through the slot in the molding and cut them to the length needed using a washer and nut on the other end with a drop of blue Loctite.

79' GS1000E, SS brake lines and pads?

I'm rebuilding the brake system on a friend's 79 E model and was wondering what is a good value in a set of 'black' SS brake lines for his bike? I would like the original 3 piece style for the front and would really prefer the kit that is pre assembled. Also, what are people using for pads on...

    Im stuck !

I'm assuming you gapped the plugs to .027" and not .27"? Sounds like it's running under water in the video. I'd guess a carb. problem of some sort. How is the compression, and does it have a good spark on all cylinders?

Mine were gone on my GS850 along with the trim. I bought a replacement from Suzuki years ago that was made out of a light gauge aluminum and glued it on with JB Weld.

    Vintage bike ownership experience...

Three years ago I had a 1600 mile trip planned and realized a couple of days before departure that the rear tire on my ST1300 wasn't going to last the trip. I changed the oil in my 79' GS850 and took it. Other than using a pint of oil it ran perfect. It has 30k on it now and I'd take a similar...

Passed a milestone on the KLR today

Love my KLR, more so than I ever thought I would when I bought it. A friend has a 96' I believe, that rolled over 100K recently. I believe other than a clutch and a water pump the engine was still intact. Nothing real exciting about a KLR just fun...
