A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Going Big cc

IMO the 750 ratio gears are only for a live clutch because of how much it slows down the clutch basket. again..just my opinion.

    Quick Access Clutch Cover Question.

nope.... one takes a ratchet and the other has a support bearing for the slider hat. this is assuming your asking for a GS based engine.

    Hairline crack in engine case

this is a common problem on a helical gear large CC GS engines. the basket is pushed towards the clutch cover under extreme use and the clip gets pulled the same direction. even with an HD basket this happens. live with it and if you ever have the bottom apart for upgrades then add strait cut...

Shifter binds up after clutch cover installation

my experience with the shaft drive big GS's is they have a support extension on the shift shaft that rides in the clutch cover. if you try to silicone instead of using a gasket the shift shaft will bind because of lack of clearance in the clutch cover from side to side. a thinner gasket would...

normally a failed heli coil will damage the thread of what is threaded into it... a lot of people mistake pulled aluminum threads for a failed a heli coil.

    GS1100E oil pan replacement

are you sure it had an insert already?

    GS1100E oil pan replacement

i'm sure you pulled the aluminum threads as a heli coil is stainless and the entire insert would have came out. yes you can pull the pan in the frame. you can also install a heli coil with the pan on. just grease up the tap...same insert as an 8 valve spark plug...14mm

    GS1150E/700/750ES Bar Risers/Spacers?

raising the tubes in the clamps 1" may/will make you lose your air fork crossover alignment. besides that i see no problem to machine the spacers and use longer bolts for the clip on to tree attachment.

    81 gs750 rod bearings?

FYI when a bearing spins you then have a smaller/not round rod journal and an over size rod big end. crank needs welded and turned or replaced and the rod needs replaced. a lot of people install better made GS engines into their 750 frames. good luck
