A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

My efforts at shimming or filling the gap around the stud aren't working out too well. Haven't tried metal yet. Tried one washer that was just a bit thicker too, but the clip wouldn't go on, lol. Going to get the stud specs to Nessism and see what he thinks. It's rideable; tested it tonight...

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

Yeah, I like mine pretty well too. Wasn't looking for one specifically, it's just what came up in my price range and in the style I was looking for. Kinda wanted something my boys couldn't trifle with the old man on too. This fits it. Not that I'm going to ride like that with them, but just...

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

Shifter just slipped on there. Can probably see the gap.

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

Thank you... I'll attach another pic or two, maybe better (I know that's not enough). I've got another idea or two I might try. Checked with Partzilla again, and no word on availability for it yet (not that the exact same thing'd do me any good). TY to Rich for trying to help out my other pics.

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

Nice, thank you. I tried a cap from a Crayola marker (lol), the thinnest end, slipped over the stud, but I still had to sand it to make it even thinner. That worked for a while, but then I started having trouble getting it into first; it wasn't returning freely to the (at rest) position I...

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

Long post for such a stupid simple thing, but yeah. It's like the inside of the lever where it slides over the stud isn't the same diameter throughout maybe. Nothing looks to be worn crazy really unless I didn't look close enough. Pics are lousy too, sorry.

Lever Pic number 2. To left of inner washer is the hex part of the stud.

    Sloppy Shift Lever, '97 ZX-11

The lever rides on a stud and works a rod that actually does the shifting (It's not a splined thing that goes directly on the shift mechanism thing like I remember at least one of my GSs having). It's got a washer on either side of it (2), and is held on by an e-clip that goes in a groove on the...

Sold a Suzuki and bought a Honda

It looks like a BMW at first glance. I thought the same about the new exhausts when I started doing bikes again late last year (and started noticing). There's a ZX-14 at work with stock exhausts and the impression (overall) is "man, that's an ugly bike" (lol). Idk the year but it's way newer...

Sold a Suzuki and bought a Honda

That thing matches my ZX-11 in the quarter mile, according to the specs I saw... I've got it on top speed, but who'll ever see 170mph+? By touring, do y'all mean off the hard surface sometimes? I've got over 4,000 miles on mine since December, and haven't done anything but oiled it (the...

    Running bad... Plug Oil?Fouled? ?

Can you use a spark plug anti-fouler/extender? I'm using some of those in an old 400sbc that needs the valve stem seals and o-rings done (but I'm not much interested in doing). They seem to work pretty well. Have one in another old (but younger) P/U too, with a terrible oil burning 4.3L. Traced...

    Hello from NH

Just casually messing about and found a blue 1100E... My favorite color for those also.

    New Rider.

How are knobbies in the rain? Just intuitively, I think I'd be scared of them. There's a guy at work put some on an SV650, and I wondered about that. They looked cool though. Don't know if he rides in the rain or not.

    Rough Spot/Growl, Very Low Speed

Just a little update here, since it's pretty slow in this category. I hit 3,000 miles this weekend since I bought this (a little over 6mos ago). My son and I were out for a ride to a scenic area, but a bolt came out of the front (headlight/fairing section) on his GSX-R600, and by the time we...

    New Rider.

I bought a cheap Huffy mountain bike when I got my first M/C, with sort of the same thing in mind. Hadn't ridden a bicycle in years to speak of. I don't remember it being too awful similar, but I did have a lot of fun on that too, and probably did my health some good in the process. Awfully...

    My First Inline 4

Thought I'd share a bit of how I acquired that. I've had nothing but inline 4s since that one (4 more, but the latest is a Kawasaki). I'd had my very first bike - A GS450L for about 8 years, and was finally looking to upgrade to something a little bigger. Naturally I wanted another GS. I looked...

    New member, Hello from Indiana!

I put a backrest and small rack on my 850. I liked the look of the stock grab bar much better, but the backrest was handy for tying stuff to more securely than w/o it. I never had a GS that needed ignition (timing adjustment?). Pre-'80 to best of my memory. Surely not too difficult...

    Center Stand assist

Mine was '91 too. My technique prob coulda used some improvement. But yeah, hardest of the bikes I've had to get up.
