DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Best 4 into 1 Exhaust Options for GS750

Older Vance and Hines are good. Newer ones seem to suffer some from build quality. If you like the chrome look then that's your best bet. If you like the stainless steel look then the Delkevic's are top notch. Made in China but still seem to be decent build quality so far. There have been...

    '82 gs 850 engine swap into '79 gs 850.

Agreed with most of the above but you won't need new coils or a new regulator/rectifier.

    Carburetur parts question...Sorry if it's a repeat!

That's the needle jet pictured above and if yours are dirty then they should be cleanable. I've never had one that was so bad that it couldn't be cleaned.

unidentified symbol on gs1000g circuit diagram

Just get an SH775 and be done with it. If it doesn't say sh775 on it then it's not one. Lots of R/R's look the same.

GS1000G carb rebuild done - but she still won't run :(

Time to verify and adjust vacuum sync. If the bench sync isn't close enough it will only run on a few cylinders. Make sure the pilot screws are at 2.5 turns or more to start with. Put on the vacuum gauges and see where you are. My bet is that you're going to be way out of balance.

Yep, 78 and 79 are VM for sure.

    Part number stamped on carbs?

The stamp on the throttle valve refers to the throttle plate angle. Usually, you can adjust the carb opening to compensate when syncing the carbs. I suspect the bigger issue you may be facing is that your #3 carb body probably has a different main air jet size. The main air jet is not...

    1981 Honda

DON'T DO IT!!!! Sell the pipes if you want but don't go and cut them up. I'm sure you could bring in good $$$ for them. I wouldn't cut anything on that bike myself. Those Honda's bring in better bucks then our GS's do today. If you want to cafe a bike, then start with something that's not...

I sure hope that you didn't bend any valves. If so, you'd be pulling the head off again.

    Think I found it

I've run into the same thing with a shim bucket not rotating freely. The only way I was able to get the shim out was to depress that bucket as far as I could using a double zip tie and then give the bucket a little whack with a hammer. Takes a few times but the shim will pop loose.

    Ok, explain this electrical gurus.

If the ignition key won't kill the starter then it's the solenoid for sure. That's unless there are some serious rewiring that's going on. Could be a fused wire in the harness. Checking the voltage at the coil wire of the starter solenoid would verify if it's a mechanical issue with the...

    Ok, explain this electrical gurus.

The starter running, even when the kill switch is on, could indicate that the starter solenoid is getting stuck. Try to start it and have a meter ready. If the control voltage to the solenoid isn't present and the starter is still turning, then it's the solenoid. If you still see voltage...

    1980 GS550 Pilot Screw / Washer / O-ring

Lord knows all the mishaps that our bikes have been through over the years. Seen some carbs with multiple o-rings and some missing either the o-ring or washer or both. It should be only one o-ring, one washer and then a spring. In that order. The o-ring goes in first. I usually stack all...

Fill it, Prime it and run it. Quit sweating the little things. If she runs fine, once the carbs are all filled then ride and enjoy.;)

Would Someone Explain This One To Me

If the bike was sitting on its side stand, then the carbs on the high side (4 and 3) would drain down first before the ones on the low side (1 and 2).

    Some general riding questions

Never ran out of gas on a bike with a reserve. I always head to the next station once I flip the reserve on. I always remember to flip it back while filling the tank. Has worked for me so far. Been doing it for over 35 years. My ST1100, on the other hand, has an idiot light that comes on when I...

    GS850 wiring problems

The sensor is not in the handle but in the mount for the clutch lever just under the hinge. There are two wires that go from there to the headlight bucket. Those wire can be shorted together and that will allow the starter motor to run. You also need to have the kill switch turned on. It's...

    No Spark

If you use the stock igniter, then you wont need anything else. If you use the Dynatek igniter, it will replace the pickup coils and the stock igniter. Wires directly to the coils.
