    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Pic of the week game

Frustration huh? Man, I've had so many of these over the years, all motorcycle related, it would be impossible to choose just one. So I will pass. Not good at picture taking anyway.

    Brakes not building pressure

Did you make sure that tiny hole in the m/c was clear and did you poke a very small wire through it to be sure? It has something to do with the returning fluid to the m/c (I think). But anyway, there are two holes in the master. One is a very tiny hole as opposed to the slightly larger one...

    82 GS1100E Mr Turbo Rebuild

With BaT, don't you set a reserve price? I think you do and then wait for BaT to set up contact info between you and the highest bidder. Don't let it go too low. Just a suggestion.

Can't get her to idle without choke

When you say you have rebuilt with kits......that makes me skeptical because we do not use kits in these carbs, just new o-rings. Did you soak each carb (completely broken down) in Berryman's carb dip for 24 hours each? And then did you run small wires through each and every passage? Followed...

MIKUNI Choke plunger seat replacement and Air corrector jets for GS fours VM's

I failed to report back my findings after getting my bike back on the road. I am super satisfied with the results after putting it all back together. To date I have put on almost 3,000 miles and I can tell you that EVERY TIME I stop, for stop signs, or just sitting in traffic my tach shows...

    Help Diagnosing Charging Issue

I'll chime in with what little I know. When my stator went out, I did all the tests that are required and especially I found the leg to ground voltage test which should show 0, mine was showing 31, 28 and I didn't even bother to test the 3rd one because I knew from the 1st 2 that it was done...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I got a little ride in today on my new to me, ahem, project bike. Anyway, same place with same jet in the background just this time with the 3rd bike. IMG_20220827_160851552 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr IMG_20220827_160912619 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr

Should I Offer Carb O-ring Kits For Sale?

I would buy a kit just to have a spare on hand. Count me in, maybe 2 sets.

79 GS1000L on the best coast

Only thing that makes sense to me is the battery in your calculator is shot. I'd like to see your actual numbers of how much gas it takes to refill the tank after xxxxx number of miles ridden.

Can you post a photo of the cap on the tank? It's just my curiosity.

Help Desperately needed with leaky fuel cap 1977 gs400

After going back to look at your photo, I'm not sure that cap will ever fit right. Something about the details of the cap and the holes inside the tank where the cap seats just doesn't look right to me.

Help Desperately needed with leaky fuel cap 1977 gs400

You need to get creative with some large stoppers and the use of something like this. I'll be back after a short visit to find what I used and post it on flickr and then here. Stay tuned. I have used both of these at different times. The one on the right is available in the plumbing dept of...
