DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    $89 flux core welder???

Yes, you read that right. I found a 220V flux core welder on fleabay and said "why not." Glad I did. After my purchase it jumped to $120. It is a pocket welder. Small, light weight and it works, well. It fixed my $80 vise so it was worth it.

    1979 GS1000 - Clutch issue?

Thats normal for a GS1000. When adjusting the cable, you're adjusting this freeplay. For the rattle, I'd check the clutch basket. Might be some info around here about it. I've broken some clutch plates on mine a time or two and it made some racket for sure...:-\\\ If you're going in, make sure...

    cylinder question

If you bought a g/k cylinder as you say, you already have a g cylinder ?!?!?! 82-84 GS1100 G should be an 8V engine - A 16V cylinder will not fit. You state it will not bolt on... WHY? As with the GS750/850 cylinder swap, the holes in the cases have to be massaged to allow them to fit. Also...

Talk me into/or out of buying a Triumph Tiger

My little brother has a 2012 and he loves it. His wife jumps on and they go everywhere. KC area for them. 5-7 years of ownership. Only issue for his scoot was an ABS light. Routine for everything else. Very happy owner. Although I've owned a Triumph triple, a Tiger has eluded me. Hermy's is my...

    '80s box aluminum gs11 swinger in '79 gs1k

I installed a 2004 GSXR swingarm in my 77 GS750 frame. I took a grinder to the inside of the swingarm bosses in the frame making sure to grind from both sides. It fits fine. Grind a little at a time. However, I do not know the differences you're dealing with...

Valve Stem Seals, or maybe throw in the towel

What I see - 1&4 are running poor - 2&3 are running better but hot. As mentioned - I'd replace all 4 plugs - retest. Re-using any of those plugs is only asking for a misdiagnosis.

    79 GS850 still idling rough

If you have 2 screws - one on the rear and one front lower Rear - air bleed screw - start at 1.5 turns - use this for off throttle hesitation - lean/rich condition Front, underneath - air/fuel mixture screw - start at 1/2 turn then you might end up at 3/4- set it and forget it. Slight...

    Considering rebuild or ...

Don't put to much into it thought wise. Through your description, I'd bet you need valve guides/seals.Unless you have 100k miles, you shouldn't need any piston/jug work. This is of course if nothing is noted during disassembly. If you pull the cylinder head, plan on sealing the jug even if you...

    79 GS850 still idling rough

Did you check compression? Simple test. Take a vacuum gauge and hook it up to any carb - at the sync ports - if the gauge bounces - valve job is needed. If it doesn't - check compression. Still running rough - we're missing something

Help w frame mods on a 750 Kat to go 1100

When I dropped a 1000cc into my 750 frame - ** note ** all Suzuki 8V - I had to move 2 engine mounts and fabricate one upper front mount bracket. I assume yours in a 16V engine - If you swap in a 1100 pay attention to this. The lower mounts on either side Shifter side - had to remove and...

1085 = 73mm which are 3mm over pistons - available on Ebay. Cruising Image is who I've been talking to as I am looking to build the same thing or find a good set of 1100 jugs, head and pistons from a used scoot... Good luck with this. Look for a G model.
