A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Time for the part (Of any build) I dislike the most -

electrickery :nightmare:

brand new -

stator (already fitted)
loom
SH775 with triumph lead
coils
switchgear
ignition switch

lots of careful splicing in to do yet , however ,got a couple of sacrificial looms etc to avoid cutting the new loom

also fit 1100E instrument loom to 1150EF instrument set ....... onward and upward !!!

Good job that I got 3 donor bikes for less than $800 as the bills mount up quickly -

All sorts of little fabrication jobs finished

bracket to relocate SH775 reg/rec

Thanks ...... still some way to go - small fabrication jobs this weekend and then starting the part I like the least

electrics :( :(

the front fender is 1994 GSXR 750 - still available new and cheaper to buy than paint

Great resto-mod! The fabrication and attention to small details is amazing. One thing I have done in the past and highly recommend to people adding wider wheels, modern suspension, more H.P. is frame bracing. For people who know how to weld, it is very easy and with the extra traction from wider/stickier tires and higher H.P. it really helps to take out the "hinge in the middle" that comes with the increase in performance. Check Katman's site for a diagram. I only braced around the swingarm area, which is what Yosh did back in the day and works well. Once again, the skill levels and creativity shown by the forum members is stunning.

Thanks - I was hoping to finish this build before the new year ...... decided to do a little garage tidying today and when I pulled the GS1000 and S1 250 from behind the mountain of boxes I noticed they both sorely need a good valet and suitably preserving while they sleep (especially the little Kawasaki )- so going to lose a few days I hadn't planned for.

ultimately I will be bracing the frame as I still plan on using a different motor ( either the 1127 currently lurking in my garage or, preferably , a lightly tuned 1150 lump)

last restomod I did was braced at headstock, swingarm pivot and "X braced" around the battery .... so that will be the plan as this bike evolves ..... for now it's just going to be for bar hopping so it'll do

next step - weaving the spaghetti together .......

Finally off the lift ...... got a snag list about 20 items long and still not resolved electrical niggles ( to be honest I've avoided them for now)

I'm now behind on my self imposed schedule - guess it'll be February before I'm finished

Thanks ......

been a frustrating few hours -

1. Wife gets just a touch antzy when I tell her that I'm not putting pillion mounts on (they foul the exhaust) ..... raid spares mountain and dig out 82 1100E hanger which is dimensionally just different enough to the ones on the donor 750 frame - out comes the angle grinder, drill, files and hacksaw ..... 90'mins later the paint is applied
2. Spontaneously the front brakes start freezing up ..... I hate tokico 6 pots - sure they look good ,however, they're a royal pain in the ass.
i seem to have at least 4 lazy/sticking pistons and I'm sure that it's cheap non original aftermarket parts (seals) - another lesson learned ....... penny wise = $ foolish
