A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1973 Triumph Trident 750 $5500

Thinking about buying one?

I think that its insane that these are so inexpensive compared to a twin. Prices on the BSA version has gone through the roof,by the way. I like the '71/'72 BSA better personally. More comfortable and better handling. Only something like 450 1972 5 speed Rocket 3s were sold.

I am just posting what interests me and keeping an eye out too. I have never owned any English bike but I read the later triple models were more reliable. I don't care for the BSA gawdy boxy styling but I would go for this look & condition

Some English chap grafted an extra cylinder on a T150 in transformed it in 1000cc four. I think it was in Motorcycle Classics . . . pretty cool

I'm in the process of rebuilding my T160 motor yet again.Only buy a Trident if you've got room in your house for a large glass cabinet or if you're rich or if you want to prove you're one of the worlds great mechanics. You've been warned. Look up the Triples Online forum and search conrods!

Well thanks for sharing, having owned the GS1000 for 34 years I have become accustomed to taking the bottom end for granted. Just curious is there a "Fix: upgraded aftermarket parts" for the conrods or do you just live with it, cry and drink heavily?

I took Tim Smithells, the bloke who started The Trident & Rocket3 Owners club advice and bought Carillo's.Expensive but vital to protect the crankcases but that still leaves a bucket full of other problems.Mines like my wife.I love it but it drives me nutty.

I have a "newer" Triumph Triple, 1997 Sprint 900, actually 883cc.
Closing in on 40k, and still sounds like a cement mixer with rocks in it.
Normal......

They're not as friendly as here, but surf around and you should find some info

The factory also made 1000cc fours.

I never found my triples to be unreliable. The boxy tank on the Rocket 3 was 1969 and 1970 only on US models. 1971 and 1972 had a round chrome tank similar to what BSA 650s had. My personal experience with triples is positive. They do have a lot of parts. Timing the thre sets of points at 3500 RPM is an experience, but not difficult. I don't recommend the 1975 Electric Start model. Pretty, but just too uncomfortable. I rode one on lots of back to back 600 mile days in 1985 on a cross country trip. All the triples are heavy. The T-160 is significantly more so.
