A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

398 m today.
My longest ever hop.
It rained for 150 miles. Was cold too.
Reached santander to pre booked hotel.
Totally exhausted with wind , rain , cold.

Plains, mountain passes , tunnels ,

3m to ferry port .

All I know it's hard to be a tourist and do a journey
Like this.

Met a couple in their 60's on a bmw mega thing.
He was doing 250m days with ease he said.
I however who can run half marathons am exhausted
After 250m. ( or is it the accumulation of 4500 miles ?)

They chap could barely believe it.

But I would rather do it on a GS any day.

Did he have a touring fairing on it?
That makes it incredibly easier.

Journeys end.

(I did not have a touring fairing on it as i thought it ruined the lines !. But I reckon you
are right it would have made it so much easier)

and a final picture after a morning work on herbs.

fitted the new rear shocks, new petcock, a good gunk and clean ........
If it was summer i would return immediately to Normandy and then to the somme.

I will post a few more tech posts - in the right locations as have a few issues with parts - cant find them.
What an adventure though !
My only regret is i didnt go to Italy and Venice , rome etc.

FINAL DISTANCE - 4585 MILES

Hey so I have some sort of electrical issue that keeps burning up new coils on my 81 gs550 I've replaced the CDI box, fuse box, spark plugs, and pulsar plate. None of the fuses are blown so I don't know why the could keep blowing it will run for about a day and then I will start it the next and then it dies and loses all spark and coils are fried. So if anyone has any idea or advise to help me out this is my first day using this forum so any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Almost guaranteed your regulator is putting out too high a voltage and killing the electronics on the bike.
