If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

1980 Wes Cooley in the garage....finally!

Things are cleaning up well....all parts are in....I'm about $1700 into parts alone! Yikes!

Adds up doesn't it. I put at least that into my EF. Good thing it was free. LOL At least when you're done you've got something a tad more collectable. I was going to say much more valuable but that's only relavent if you sell it which I highly doubt will happen.

body fill on the mirrors? or metal plasma?
Either way great job.

I'm stopping by there tomorrow to drop off a couple of thing and will ask....meanwhile I got my mirrors back from the painter...very happy.

Mark came over today to give me a hand...thanks buddy...I know you wanted to accomplish more but it's coming..:)
I got the tank emptied and the vinegar got a lot of the rust out but I'm going to try some metal rescue this weekend for the rest. I hear good things about it.

It's certainly not all glamour...lol

Trevor, they did a very nice job on those mirrors.

Looks like it is coming along nicely. And quick, this would have taken me months!

Congrats on your Cooley! This is a great thread. So I am always interested in learning about the differences between the SN & ST since I have an original SN and have never seen an original ST in person except in pics. Maybe you can answer some of my questions. I notice the slotted rotors, higher Superbike bars on your ST, are those OE on the ST? Also, is the Rear wheel 18" or 17" on the ST?

Very nice job!

Party next door at BCH's place for his 65th birthday...great time! Then Rob and his wife Lisa came over to our house for a nightcap.
Rob is pointing at my tank "that's what I want honey, a gas tank in our living room".....lol....I have it there because the Metal Rescue in it has to be at least 68 degrees.

Took the shield (and used Novus scratch remover paste) off the fairing today and re-glued some trim and gave it a cleaning....the paint and fairing is in very nice shape.

I have to touch this up though...

Rob came over today and we (well Rob) accomplished a lot!
Chain and sprocket conversion done..

Finished getting the tank ready...poured out the metal rescue and no more rust....and cleaned up the rest of the tank....man I can't get over how nice the paint is....

New intake boots...

Ready for valve adjustment...

Exhaust on....

Fairing and mirrors on...

A good day!

Man, you guys have accomplished pretty much what took me all winter to do. Great work, bike looks fabulous and that original paint work is priceless.

Thanks Sandy. It sure helps the pocket book having ordered a lot of the parts needed months ago....and having Suzuki whisperer Rob is priceless!!

Damn that's looking good!

Awesome work Trevor and team, I see you have a bike lift in your garage, is that a new purchase?

What brand and how does it perform?

David

Forgot to ask, are you sealing the tank after the treatment or is it OK just to leave as is?

I was going to ask that question too. With my experience with pinholed, leaky tanks I'd really consider sealing it now before you get those pinholes and ruin that nice original paint. Maybe you can get an endo camera and look in the lower corners, that's where the problem will be.

From the advice I got from a motorcycle guy that has used it...he is three years in with a old Honda tank and no issues. And he said his tanks was very very rusty. That said..sandy...you make a good point too... maybe I will look at getting it coated.?.?

Looking great. I dig the nod to the bikes history in the dealer tag that you left on the chainguard.
