    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've read the thread on rebuilding the carb and went through the pdf as well. What great information! Makes me feel like I can rebuild this with a little time, effort and patience. I just wanted to know where the best place to buy the kit would be?

I found on the carb building thread a good source through this forum for the O-Rings but did not see a place for the kits. Maybe I don't need the whole kit but I think I at least need new gaskets. Anyone that can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to start disassembling the carbs before I have the parts to put everything back together correctly.

Also I'm also looking for a petcock rebuild kit. I would rather spend money with people tied into this forum then on EBAY[-o<!!!

About the only thing you might need from a carb rebuild kit is the bowl gasket, and those are available separately from CRC (and elsewhere) for a fraction of the cost of a kit.

Odds are you won't even need that. Just remove the bowl screws, whack the base of the bowl with a medium-sized screwdriver and remove the bowl. In most cases you can re-use the gasket.

As Robert states, bowl gaskets are the only other thing you are likely to need. On the outside, new float needles which are available at Z1 Enterprises.

Thanks for the info. Any idea where to get the Petcock Rebuild Kit? I've seen them on Ebay but thought I'd check to see if someone in the forum sold them first?
 
No one on the forum sells petcock rebuild kits. Z1 Enterprises is the number one favorite place on GSR to purchase parts so you might want to check them out. Know up front that petcock rebuild success rates are not 100%; the metal in the petcock gets pitted and worn and sometimes the rebuild fails as a result. Many regulars here recommend just replacing the petcock straight out if it's leaking. If it's not currently leaking and you just want to freshen it up some, a rebuild kit should extend the life of the part.

The petcock rebuild kits and the carb kits are low-quality junky crap.

Buy a new petcock.

Buy only the o-rings and maybe the bowl gaskets for your carbs.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to use Z1 Enterprises for a new petcock. Also I'm going to get the O-Rings I need and maybe the gaskets! Now to ordering and getting this bike up and running!

I will post pics one I put her back together!
