A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1983 GS750ES Bikes goes dead when Flasher is removed

When I saw it in the picture I thought, that looks like a circuit breaker to replace the fuse way more than any turn signal flasher I've seen. Keep scratching your head, you had to be the one who put it there, probably many birthdays ago..

Being nosey, I just punched in 12V circuit breaker on ebay, found that exact item. I couldn't make out in your pic. but on ebay item says 10A above and 12V below, now see that's what is in your picture.... Now why and when.

Must be a combination of factors, since that circuit only powers turn signals, horns and brake light switches.
So even when wired/fused all wrong, it should not have affected the whole bike going dead.

Maybe the FIAMM horns and seperate wiring/relay were hooked into the main 12V somehow,
and removing that restored proper power to contact, ignition, etc.

Well, all sorted now, cool :)

Thats a circuit breaker in the first pic. replace it. you can use a blade fuse rated the same as the CB...

The second pics is the actual flasher. Or appears to be.

If you replace this and you still have issues - please reach out.

I agree, it's definitely a circuit breaker. I must ave installed it over 35 years ago. The FIAMM Horns are mounted with their own circuit, even the horn button is not the original, as that kind of went to pieces, so I put in a small button switch into there. Nothing from the horn presently is wired into the motorcycles Harness, and that circuit has it's own separate relay and fuse.

I'm sure that's a circuit breaker. That fuse says "Flasher" on the fuse panel. That's what threw me off, especially as that fuse/circuit breaker was clicking when the signal lights were running, and loudly. When I look at the schematics, that fuse goes to many places, including the actual Flasher Relay.

If I scratch my head any harder on this, I'll end up with a bald spot. I don't have one now, might as well not create one. I'm confident about going out for a ride now, and trying out the new 16:" Battleaxe on it. ;)
