Chain guard looks alright actually! Should do the job...

Not sure on the helmet... is it the Japanese rising sun with those stripes? If so then the sun in the blank white spot would be a good start I would thnink...

yes and no... initially thats what it was going to be but i dunno now lol, i wanted something that doesnt look like any other helmet so if i get back into karting etc you dont need to see my name on the kart to know its me.

Hey josh, just found your tread and spent about the last hour going through it. Wow what a mindf***. Anyway I've PM'd you on psb about the ign pick up, The one I've got should be the one. Have also got 2 seats one of which is in good nick. a couple of tanks and a genuine bikini fairing that needs a bit of tlc, let me know if you need anything and I'll try to help you out.
cheers Geoff.

Legend Geoff! I was just thinking of posting in here to see how Josh was getting on with his ignition woes, seems you got him under control :)

Maybe I really should join the PSB board...

Got some vinyl today to recover my seat, only cost $20 but having some problems getting it tight around the front of the seat where it curves up to the tank. The original cover has a thin layer of foam stitched to the underside of it.

I also knocked off about 2cm of height from the rear of the seat as it looked to chunky.

Any ideas in regards to the front of the seat? If i cant get it perfect i'm going to modify the front of it so it goes straight to the tank with no curve to it.

Nice to see you posting again Josh ;)

Can you get some more foam to put under that part of the seat like was there?

I can't sew to save my life so I'm going to attempt to do the foam myself and then have someone a little more skilled do the cover...

Yeah we have been away on holidays and only just getting back on the bike now.

I could probably cut it off the original cover but it was only really thin so i dont know if it will make much difference. My other option is to do away with the seat and go cafe on it.

hows this for weird, i take really good care of all my bike stuff like jacket, boots and helmet, never dropped my helmet or hit it against anything and always give it a polish to keep it clean, got back from holidays went to put the helmet on yesterday and it looked like it had been dropped on its side and dragged across something. Dropped hard enough to chip and crack the paint. Dunno wtf happened to it!

managed to get the cover on, its not perfect but its heaps better than what was on it! Will get a pic today.

Good stuff! Definitely need to see a pic though :)

That's bizarre about the helmet... did you have anyone looking after your place or something? Family came to visit maybe?

Got a pic today of the seat and my little adventure which wasnt planed. Was taking it for a ride and got half way there and it started to hail so decided to short cut and go and find some cover down at the beach, Big mistake! They have ripped the road up and its all mud, got stuck going down hill with a lollypop man and his STOP sign then when i got to go the bike was all over the shop sliding everywhere and got stuck behind a roller slowly making its way down to the bottom so i got bloody soaked!

Now the bike is still having issues under heavy load when going up through the gears it will cough and fart and then run clear, so instead of pulling the carbs off and apart yet again ( i'm sure i could do it with my eyes clothes ) i want to see if someone has a spare set of Mikuni carbs for it that i can put on and see if it makes a difference?

Also i'm thinking of a bash plate / splash guard, you will see why in the pic!

What? Still coughing and farting? Geeez what a bugger! Gotta be something real obvious we're missing.... definitely good to see you're out and about on it again though :D

And you say there's a pic... I see no pic... stop teasing already! :p

Its coughing and farting but no where near as bad as before, it would almost stop the bike last time but now i can get through it, still annoying though and i want it fixed.. so if anyone has some spare carbs let me know!

Mate nice effort on the seat! That looks pretty good.

As for your splash guard/bash plate, don't forget it's air cooled so you'll need holes to let air continue to circulate there so it won't do much splash protection...

I'm sure Mike will have his done in no time and will be happy to make another one for you ;)

Yeah the seat turned out okay, i couldnt get it 100% right where i sit because of the way it comes up to meet the tank but i still think it came out okay, i chopped about an inch off the height of the back of it which makes abit of difference but i should of tapered the side in as i still think its to wide there.

Going to make a carb adjustment and head out on it again this morning.

I havn't gone through all your problems with the carbs, but have you considerd that maybe its not your carbs at all, and its everything around them.

For example,
The O-rings on the carb boots,
The carb boots themselves
The boots for the airbox
leaky airbox?

I'd be checkin out all that stuff first, as they will def cause things to splatter about. Especially the carb boots (that mount to the engine)...

O-rings are new
I've done a leak test on all of it and i'm getting no change in engine rpm, i've checked to make sure the carb boots are on the correct side etc.

tell me about it! i'm just glad its not a 4 cyl!

Thats the reason i want to borrow a known working set of carbs so i can eliminate the carbs being the problem, if that is it.
