Nice one Josh, looking forward to the pic's :)

Not good you got the flu, rest up and knock that on the head then you can enjoy the bike properly!

Tail section is in primer filler, gotta bog afew bits though and the tank will need some bog while i'm at it too so hopefully i can get it done tomorrow ready for paint.

Will grab some pics of the new inlet manifolds tomorrow

began wet sanding today on the lh side panel and rubbed through to primer, really annoys me considering i put heaps of paint and heaps of clear on it so i could avoid rubbing through!

Tail section now has some filler on it waiting for that to dry then i'll sand it up and get it ready for some paint, dont know what i'm doing wrong with the painting, yes i'm only using spray cans but its automotive paint, its getting 5-6 coats and about 4 coats of clear over the top. I'm wet sanding with 1200 then step up to 2000 grit.

What am i doing wrong? Should i give the cans a miss and do the rest of the bike with a gun and will it make any difference to wet sanding?

I've considered painting it another colour instead of black to help hide any imperfections in my first paint job!

Bugger, yeah, I know what that's like... although at least on my tail piece it was just a tiny corner...

I'd suspect your coats aren't thick enough and/or you haven't got enough clear coats on...

I've ended up with 7 coats on mine but I'm still paranoid about doing this wet sand and polish and cutting through to the paint or primer...

Laid some more paint onto it yesterday afternoon and sanded lightly between each coat, am going to be wet sanding that today and should get some paint on the tail section today as well.

Spose i should get some pics for you bugga's... lol

Got some pics for you, dont look too hard at my inlet manifolds as they will be replaced soon.

Side panel was wet sanded and polished and came up pretty good still not the best but its got a good shine to it.

The tail section has some paint on it now and some clear, i forgot to put the white line down the middle so i will do that next and they put afew more coats of clear over the top. That will be the end of all my spray paint so the tank will be painted with the gun.

Next after the tank will be the wheels, they will be black with the alloy ring around the outside, then will come the engine and frame.

Now that the bike is slowly taking shape i'm getting more excited about it!

Thanks Pete, i have put down heaps of paint on the tail piece and about 4 coats of clear so far so i'm hoping it will come up good too, should look great when i put the buffer on it.

Good stuff! Can't believe you're beating me to the polishing

Fingers crossed to not just get bike time on Saturday, but get enough to actually get something done...

I'm regretting painting it black, all the little imperfections show up but its abit late now lol.

The tank will be the big test, never sprayed with a gun before and have to get paint etc yet oh well atleast i'll have enough for the frame and wheels too.

Think i'm going to give up on the headlight shroud too, i kinda like it naked but i might add a small windscreen to it

Yeah someone told me black is the worst for showing up stuff that's not right...

The gun isn't too bad at all actually, but less forgiving than a spray can I feel... just remember the paint will go everywhere...

Tail section is painted, at this stage i've decided to drop the white line down the middle. Cant wait to hit it all with a buffer.

I've still got some paint left which might be enough to do the wheels or atleast one of them.

Starting to look good! Although I'd keep going with the white stripe otherwise with the black engine there'll be nothing to break it up a bit... but that's just me...

Yeah i'll see how it goes once i do the tank, i'm just glad its finally starting to look abit better.

Looks like a nice day here today so i might paint the front wheel.

Did the front wheel today got some pics.

Cleaned waiting to dry.

I think it looks good, when the back one is done i think it will make the difference.

I ordered a tin of paint today to finish off the rest, will be the first time i have sprayed with a gun so that will be interesting.
