A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks to everyone who has posted such great comments and questions...The tank is stock 450 but not a 450L an 450S (I think)...the taillight and licence plate and tail light are on the other side of the bike...the plate is curved to meet the contour of the rear shock....I'll post a pic of it soon...the tail light is made from a scooter tail light, dash light bulbs and the center cap off a set of ICW wheels off my now totaled 97 DX Civic

Nice ones fellas! Good to see this thread continuing :)

Once I get some good "completed" photos of my 450 I'll add them in... still waiting for the right shots in the right amount of sun when it's actually clean...

My little 250

My little 250

Heres my 250 after 5 months of love.

Runs like a champ.

I like your 450, you did a lot of work on that thing. That's dedication !

The 250 is nice, she runs sweet.
The bike hadnt run in 5 or 6 years, there was quite a bit of rust on the frame and the chrome, the engine covers were a mess, the airbox had been infested with mice, the rear brake was frozen, the electrics were sad but not too bad, one of the carbs had the end of a pilot jet broken off down in the carb so that carb was scraped and a replacement found thanks to a forum member (HJFisk who also got me the igniter), and I was fortunate the motor was in in good shape.
I adjusted the valves, change the oil, new spark plugs and igniter and it fired right up.
I cut out the exhaust crossover chamber (rusted out), and used sections of electrical conduit from the headers to the PO's Mac exhausts.
Now 2 into 2.
It's a little louder that I like but will be fine for the time being.
I pecked at it for about 5 months.
It's a whimpy little thing but what a pleasure (joy) to ride.

Thanks mate! I enjoy my 450 very much :) I promise to post pic's in this thread once I get some nice "completed" ones... I haven't posted any in this thread yet...

You've done well to get the 250 back in such good shape, that's a good effort!

The good thing with these twins is that they're so light and easy to handle and you can really wring their neck without as much risk of overdoing it...

82 450L in the works

82 450L in the works

I got this a while back and it's been just sitting here. Too busy with my GS 400 project but tonite I got around to washing the dust off and rewiring the rect regulator like I always do. The carbs need to come off as they leek fuel like crazy past the floats , but I have had it running and it sounds great. 14k miles and looks like it will clean up great. gotta love 'em huh???

The tail light is smaller and yes i ride with the seat zip tied on. It will have new exhaust and maybe a seat this week.

now that looks like a cafe done right. Very nice.

Really? Joking? I thought is was too modern for most. I will get some more pictures up tonight then. The electric starter and gears are gone, different master cyl, no more key, the triple tree has been shaved, all electronics hidden and other misc tabs removed. I am riding the bike currently so the paint will look like hell till the fab work is completed.

Wow did the motor liven up when i removed the starter gears. Felt like a 10% power increase. I have tossed two trash cans full of junk off this bike and once i finish the exhaust it should reduce the weight even further.

Anyone want to donate a old busted coach purse from there ex-wife that i can make a seat out of?
