DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

It seems all the grumpy people from CA DMV have moved to AAA.... in the UK we call them "jobsworths" as in more than my jobs worth to allow that.....

Anyway I need to have a second vin number in place to register apart from the stamping on the neck. The original foil sticker is damaged (in my possession but apparently not acceptable due to the damage).

What have others done in a similar situation? I'm wondering if I can order / print a sticker that would work and or stamp another number with a punch set in which case looking for location suggestions..

Must be specific to CA.
have never heard of such.

although I have heard about modern cars have the vin number on dashboard (that can be seen thru windshield) and stamped on the frame somewhere.

hee hee
maybe go to pet store that has a machine to stamp(?)engrave(?) a dog collar tag
har har
maybe bend it to fit along frame under seat, or maybe find a flat place somewhere.

One of these with the petsmart deleted maybe... they don't seem to do a plain silver one.

I'd need to make it look pretty permanent and probably hidden... just in case I get the same lady again! :)

Although she did say I could go to Suzuki & get them to give me a new sticker... hmm yeah right, I don't see that happening (but apparently she knows best as she's been doing it 20 yrs...) :D

I just had to do a re-title (even though I had the original in hand) at DMV in CA a few months ago. Luckily mine had the sticker but that's bogus to require it IMO. Mine was badly faded and rubbed off from a cable, and the numbers were barely legible.

I saw an eBay listing for reproduction stickers that looked exactly the same, just give the # and about $35 which seemed fair. I just can't find it right now, it was always near the top of my searches - maybe it's not legal or something. It looked exactly stock. SMH sorry can't help more.

Dan,

You can get a replacement VIN tag for the frame neck off of ebay. They are pretty pricey, about $45 if I remember correctly, but they look nice!

Just checked and the price has gone up. Only one US seller, and he is asking $175.
What are the chances Suzuki could provide one?

Search, "Motorcycle Vin Tag" , on ebay and you will find one for $45. Not an original but may work?

There are other chaper generic tags for less than $10 if all you need is a plate with the number.

Ah...there they are. I was search vin sticker, not tag.

Well... luckily I am pretty good with Photoshop and a printer. We shall see what happens. :)

Looks like you found something that will work. I was thinking a trophy shop could engrave a label for you that would even have an adhesive back. I have a friend that did that for a home-made trailer so he could get a tag.

I ran into a problem in my county a few years ago and just went to a little rural town in another county about 30 miles away. They were very lax in the smaller town. Don't know if that is a possibility for you.

Photoshop for the win.... In fact I created two. 1 for the neck & then "just in case" a 2nd white tag that I placed between the overlap of the two rear fender halves so it was hidden in normal view but very close to the EPA sticker.

In the end the guy who helped me this time didn't even look at the neck label, just the stamped one & the one on the fender... easier to read.

If anyone else has this issue then PM me I may be able to help :)
