A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

76 KZ 650B1 ( AMF auction bike ) part 2

Nice! Take it around the block? Too cold and icy?

No chain and sprockets on it!!! And the tires are in no way usable other than to push the chassis around. Ive got some more spending to do before a ride will happen.

I am getting a inconsistant break in the firing signal from the 1/4 coil according to the timing light. 2/3 is steady and rapid as one would expect to see. I think I have come this far and a few more dollars wont change the world, so I think new coils may also be in order.

Get sprockets and chain and ridable tires and get a ride in someday.

And yes i have cleaned all the connectors to the 1/4 coil and it didnt change the intermittent skips....

What about taking a crack at pulling the wires out of the coil and transplanting in another set? Cheap experiment anyway.

The wires are soldered to a disc thats molded into the coil body. I had already ground the plastic back with the same idea of putting on new wires..but thats not gonna happen. Im just gonna replace them with the Emgos I found on Ebay and be assured they are factory perfect.

New coils installed. Probably buy a new battery this weekend. Fire it up and i expect to see a little better performance from the engine.

New battery installed. The new coils make starting almost effortless now. Im well satisfied with everything at this point. Time to turn my attention at sprockets and a chain. Gonna stay with the 630 chain. So another one is resurrected and anxiously awaiting its first run down some asphalt.

Pretty sure I've still got the original sprockets for my 750. 11k miles. Can't seen any hooking of the teeth or what have you.

They were so bad when Frank and I first tore the bike down they went into the scrap bin. I will probably see what Z1 has when I make the big purchase.

According to JT sprockets the 650B model bikes had a 530 chain.

My point about the sprockets from my 750 is that you can have them for free if money is tight. They are in decent shape, however they are 630.

Its not an issue right now Ed. I went to the parts fiche and sure enough its a EK530SH 102 link chain . I was "assuming" it was a 630 when i posted. I will need tires before it can be ridden regardless. I will pick at it as I have told myself I will get 1 item a week from my paycheck. So I have a plan as it were..HA HA.

Took some measurements before starting the P ( PRETTY ) phase of the project. Gonna start sanding and stripping the tank so the body work can proceed.

Tank stripped and some filler applied to the one dent on the entire tank!! Body panels all sanded and ready for some primer soon as I get the tank straight.

Got the tank and then other body parts sanded. Was 7 and decided to call the day and get some chow. Probably get it all primed tomorrow..I hope.

Tank and side covers are primed. Had a spot on the tail section I wasnt happy with so Im still working on getting it to my liking. I will post progress pics when i get them all to my specs.

Decal set and the helmet hook decal ordered. Gonna have everything in place so soon as it gets warmer out its "go time".

Found a new set of mirrors on Ebay so I pulled the trigger. Got the front master cylinder and a new kicker rubber on the way also. Come on weather and get warm and lower humidity!!!

Got the new mirror set and front master cylinder today. Gonna go thru the master and clean it out this weekend and bleed the brakes. Z1 has the airbox to carb boot set and sprockets and chain. Think Im gonna run IRC tires with the vintage tread patterns on it. Should have the cash for the rest of the parts and tires next week. Its getting closer!!!!
