A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

86 kawasaki ninja 600r

Got all white and pearl overlay done. Unfortunately i have to go back and do a respray of the blue on the side covers. Thought i had them well masked off but some white got in and ghosted them.Oh well. Is what it is. I was gonna take pics but at 230 it was 97 degrees and i wasnt sticking around a second longer. Hopefully this next weekend will be cooler and can hit them. Once thats done i can sand the edges in the gaps the decals will lay in and start that process. I eventually will get pictures up.

Well well... retirement has afforded me the time to revisit the project. Last 3 days i have put all the body work on the bike. Lubed all the cables. Refreshed the carbs and fired it up. Rechecked all the calipers and master cylinders and got new fluid in. Did fork seals. New brake pads. Installed the airbox. Opened up the gauges and cleaned the faces and the inside of the lens and lubed gauge axles. Now I'm repainting the rims as the rear one was white and the front was red. Did a lot of internet searches for 86 sales brochures and all showed solid black rims so that what its getting. Rear rim is done and drying now. Still need to do the front. I will take pics sometime this week after i get the front rim redone.
Its not "perfect" as the passenger seats got some damage and i need a left front signal lens. The missing fairing reflector is on the way. Anyway its looking pretty darn nice. Im linking the other thread for those that want to revisit all the posts involved.
And seeing the VIN label states it is in fact an 86 and not a 85 ( and pics from the 85 sales brochures confirm that ) i went with the 86 pics as the template.

NOTE.. Original intent was to donate it to the rally auction down in Texas. However the rally founder decided to no longer go through the year long logistics of planning for the next year and closed it down. So now the intent is to keep it a while and see if it grows on me.

Got rear wheel on and mounted the rear caliper and cleaned the swing arm while the wheel was off. I'm not so sure i like the glossy paint but for now it is what it is. May have them redone later in a semi gloss of matte. Might even look into powder coating. Waiting on my fairing reflector and i have to get a petcock. Someone broke the vacuum nipple off the one that was on the bike and filled it with JB Weld. I assume they were running it on prime and turning it to on when parked.. poor mans manual petcock. I just might use it like that till i can afford a new one.

Short of new tires here it is. Rode it around the area just a little as the tires are not something im trusting my arse too.. HA HA.
