A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

First rule of motorcycle refurb. What comes off goes back on unless you're a) customizing or b) you don't need it. In this case.....you need it:D

Reminds me of my old mate Lyman and the MGB he inherited from his dad. It used to eat transmissions so we would be forever changing them. Everytime we did it less parts would go back into the car:o His mantra was, "you don't need that its just for show". He used to fix things with a "persuader" (big hammer) too:eek:. I think by the time I inherited it, the tranny was help on with 2 bolts. I think i added 2 more;)

Don't you hate it when you miss something like that? I had a custom swingarm and wheel with special spacers for my XS that was a bugger to get the axle on. Several times I'd forget one crutial spacer and have to spend hours fiddling it off and on again. Pain in the ****!

Good luck sorting it, youll soon be riding.
Cheers,
Spyug

So no update since the 19th November... have you become bizarro Pete?

Seems I'm getting progress done and moving right along, you have stopped... hmmm

I wonder... if I hit a brick wall with progress, will you suddenly kick into gear? :p

Sorry, Pete.
I've been buried in other crap that seems to think it's more important than my bike.
Ha! Little does it know.
I should be able to get in the shed this weekend I think.
That will see the bike, or me, finished!

More to follow...

You'll get there old mate . I know how it feels . I've got a project that I haven't been able to find the time or money for , for a couple of years now .

When the going gets tough , the beer fridge gets bigger (or is that the problem ?).

Cheers , Simon . :-\\\

Aaaah yeah... don't I know it! Work happened to me tonight and I got my rings in the mail and all... bugger... but that's how it goes.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya', this weekend's a write off for me as I have the outlaws visiting on Saturday (yay... not).

I know how that goes too Simon... will be 9 years early next year since I last rode my 450, and 5 years since I started dismantling for the rebuild...

And a bigger beer fridge is never a problem unless it's empty :D

Uhoh. I'm picking up a new beer fridge on Friday night.

This may go comically/tragically/surgically wrong.

Bleeding stump photos to follow.

Mmmmmmmmmm , new beer fridge , loaded with this would be good ..........

OK, now there's a problem.
The kids have lost the key to the shed and I can't pick up the beer fridge because their new fridge is on back order...

Great.

Oh, Pete & Simon.. Did I mention I spent 4 days at the Island for the 6 Hour?

IMG_9137.jpg

Hehehe.
I deserve that I guess.
Ross was there with his perfect MacKintosh Kat.

He said I can have it "when I pry it from his cold, dead hands"

I told him to stick his hands in the esky and I would arrange the rest..

I'm about a 1/4 the way through the 470-odd photos of the weekend.
I'll put up a link when I'm done if you like.

We like , we like .
I'll bet it was a cracker of a weekend . Up the woobla with Island Mick and the crew I 'spose .

If only I didn't love it so much where I live , and it wasn't so far , I'd be at the Island more often .

If only they'd run a forgotten era 6 hour , or 4 , or 2 .

You're still a mongrel . :p

Cheers , Simon . :)

Ditto on the mongrel! :p

I'll be sure to have a peek at those pic's when you get them up, and your mate's Kat sure is nice!

Forgotten Era 6 Hour..
Hmm. Bring back Amaroo I say.
Bathurst?
Sandown?

Imagine the old dinosaurs that would get rolled out for that one?

Imagine the old dinosaurs that'd turn up to watch .

Ahhhhhhh , Bathurst . The police locked inside their own compound afeared of the great unwashed . Sleeping in your own vomit . GREAT racing and GREAT mates . Those were the days , before it all turned beige .

Bring back "around the houses" as well . Makes you almost want to move to Un Zud .

Cheers , Simon . :twistedevil:

I can feel my bones creaking from here.

There was talk last year of reviving the old Grand Prix road circuit out of Launceston.
Having personally, erm, tested those roads* over the years I can vouch for them. the Fun-O-Meter would be on the redline.

*Roads tested under sort of closed conditions and I had a fluoro vest on. Hehehe.

Well, the bike is done.

Just a little cosmetic polishing and washing.
The bad news is that I can't afford the rego and inspection just yet.
Besides, who wants to pay rego at Christmas each year?

The good news is that I live in a rather non-policed suburb with winding little back streets.
There will be late night shake down runs.
It only makes sense to ensure the bike is right doesn't it?

I believe you have a responsibility to your friends , family and neighbours to ensure the bike is functioning correctly and safely before you take to the streets . Testing in the middle of the night , when there are fewer road users about , seems the most considerate approach .

Well done , that man .

Cheers , Simon .

P.S Merry chrissy old mate .

My thoughts exactly.
I'm all about caring for my fellow man.

Merry Christmas to you too, mate.
