DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A new addition to the bicycling stable

Took a ride yesterday afternoon, it was nice out. My tires call for 60 - 80 lbs so I was running them at 80 since I'm a lardass :o As an experiment I dropped them down to 60 and now the bike has acceptable bump absorption with no noticeable increase in rolling resistance. :encouragement: The bike is a Trek Verve with an aluminum frame. by the way.

Cut off the dork disk and switched to ball bearing pedals, oughta be good for at least another 5 mph. :wink-new:

Got my then 14 y/o son a nice bike on his birthday and in 15 months he has transformed from a slightly pudgy kid to a whippet that does 25-50 mile days, huge climbs, 6K' regularly. He has a YT Capra CF pro 29er now and I ride a Canyon Spectral. He wheelies up hills that have me sucking air but I'm smiling at his progress and being out with him when I can. All the elements are there - fitness, adventure, tech, travel, friendship and nature. I modified my old '94 Cannondale to look a bit old school, & that's the GS1100E frame next to the Ducati. Now he wants a gravel bike and I told him to use the Cannodale and stop browsing bike sites. This is more expensive than a drug habit!

Years ago i was emptying the pockets on Gary Fisher stuff.
Sugar 3, 4 and a Superfly. Just a different kind of drug habit.:)

Get on Pat Smage youtoob if you want to see a guy make a make a fat bike dance.

60s and sunny yesterday, 40s and rainy today. *grumble* *grumble*

I bet Jedz is out on his Triumph, anyway. :encouragement:

Just trying some social distancing yesterday. Managed to actually get out for nice leisurely ride by myself. Weather was a little flakey and others jammed out so I ended up having a great day exploring some back roads through the grasslands on a plateau in what's known as the Rocky Mountain Trench. I spooked an elk herd and about 15 minutes later spotted them again so I left the bike and manage to sneak through trees a few hundred metres before they got suspicious so I took this and left.

What does the gang think of e bikes?

Funny that you bring that up now. We just bought a Giant/Liv hybrid e-bike for my wife. I balked at first but now figure it's was a great choice because it will get her out more even if it is on improved trails and not single track, which is what I prefer. We went out yesterday on some rails to trails and did the trail to the neighbouring ski town (50 km return) and she was just beaming when we got back. Even though I've not ridden it I love it. It'll let her enjoy getting out more and allow me to ride at my pace and distance instead of hers. Also she can go with a couple her friends that also have e-bikes so it frees me up to go exploring more. Win-win situation for both of us. One day it might even break down and try it. LOL.

Sun finally came out in the afternoon so i managed to get a lovely two hour ride.
Would have been better except my favourite Thermos water bottle slipped out my hand and skittered across the road under the wheels of a truck heading in the other direction.
Flat as a pancake. Nuts.

Headed out on a ride tomorrow. I'll take some photos and report back!

Have you ever heard the saying " Don't ride or drive it if you aren't prepared to buy"? Well, at the bike shop the salesman says " Wanna try this e bike?" and I said "Sure"...
