A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

At least 2 of mine did...thats what had me puzzled when i saw the setup..then when i went to put the 7 inch bucket in i said WTF is this!!!!

Dale...what was the OEM size of the one on your bike???? Or should i say, was the configurations right on yours and what size was the light?? That pic of it at my house may show the gap at the top that i was talking about because it was taken from the side..maybe repost it so i can take a looksy.
The light that came on my GS1000EC is a 7 inch headlight and is (was) correct for that model. Greg's GS1000C came with a 7 inch headlight from the factory as well.

I know theres one more for me to mod and I have the 750 ears set aside.. Frank Z has my burrs and the air die grinder. The bike has the setup it came with still on it..like I said, pics tomorrow.

Let me take the pics tomorrow of my mod and the bike with the 6 incher on it..Like i said too..theres a very noticeable gap between the top of the bucket and the bottom of the guages with the 6 incher that isnt there with a 7 inch?? Then again, depending on how soon you want it, i can give you the 6 inch stuff. Im only gonna throw it in the dumpster when i take it off..your call. Maybe send you the 6 inch stuff and you can fit it and if you dont like you can toss it.

Dale do the ears have the dogleg like these ones?

Greg, no they don't. I was going to tell you that dog leg was the difference between what they should be like and what you have on it now.

Dales look like they squat in at the light, while yours look like the dogleg is by the forks...exactly the oppposite to me!!!

EDIT..or straight and just the dish for the bolt.

I didn't see pics in your previous post.Yea these are the wrong ears.Lots of cursing I will leave out the:D

When and why do you suppose these doglegged ones found their way to the bikes Dale?? I did give a set of the doglegged ones i took off to Frank Z and he used them on his Cooley....wonder if thats the deal?? In fact i gave him two sets!!!

Chuck I wish I could explain how they got like that. I can't tell you for sure the ears that were the on my GS1000EC were on it from the factory. All I do know is they were the exact same bends that were on my 80 GS850G from the factory, which came with a 7 inch headlight and they appeared as rusted as the rest of the bike, which leads me to believe they were original ears to the bike.

Inspiring.
I hope I can set aside the time and money for a thorough look at my skunky GS1000 next winter. This year, spring is too near. :)

If you are looking for the first type pictured in post #436,
$20 plus actual shipping to Canada.

Heres the last 78 1000 E i have to do the fork ear mods too. As i said, if i try to put a 7 inch in, then as you can see thats not gonna work. This is the way I got the bike...go figure.

While I'm thinking about it,the paint colour is Toyota Barcelona Red Metallic.A very red metallic. The Garrnet Metallic Pearl is a bit to dark for my tastes.
