DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

83' GS450GA is what I am working on. Got aggressive with carb spray and blew out the parts from the crossover/accelerator pump chamber (no iidea what it is called or what it actually does). Here are pics with everything intact, both bowls have this. Retaining spring, brass piece about 3/8" long under it and a tiny steel ball bearing underneath that. I need another brass piece and bearing and the both retaining springs. I will post pics of brass pin and bearing tomorrow.

Parts diagrams do NOT show these parts, at least not that I can find (see pic or parts outlaw). I have a whole other bike so I am not in desperate need but semi-desperate as I want to have both sets useful.

Anyone ever seen these parts before or no exactly what this crossover between carb bowls does?v1.jpg

Would you believe that you already described it? :-k

There is one accelerator pump. The crossover tube is so it will discharge in both carbs.

The brass thingies, along with the springs and balls are check-valves. When you twist the throttle, you are turning a cam that pushes down on the rod to activate the pump. The pressure generated by the pump overcomes the springs, allowing gas to flow past the balls. When you stop twisting the throttle, the springs push the balls back into place, to be ready for the next squirt.

It has been many years since I have seen that setup, and it's ONLY on the 450GA.

Bummer, was hoping it was on other GS bikes that I was just not familiar with. As you can see parts fiche doesn't even show the parts so probably hard to find replacements unless i make my own :(

can you still buy the bowls? One assumes if they are integral and not listed that the bowls come dressed with them.

Sorry my friend, haven't been on this site in a long time. Yes I did, I took them out of a Kawasaki carb but can't remember which one, this was 4 years ago now. Someone suggested once to me to run without them, not sure how that would work. Check Ebay, maybe you can find the parts there

Pretty sure I've got some of those parts if anyone is in need.
