I installed it and it seend to start fime, I wrapped some FMF muffler packing (all I could find in town) and it just falls on its face, sems to start out fone but then it gets worse and worse and the sound of the exhasut changes more and more until it is barely running. I take it apart and it does the same thing.

How do you pack that stuff? tight? loose?

The MAC "baffle" is just 2 offset pipes, not the "cheese grater" kind.

it seems like it gets full of moisture and plugs, WTF??

I only have an hour or so to work on it Ive already went waaaay past when I said I would...

Sounds like you aren't flowing air and fouling out the plugs.

ok what do I do?

plugs looked fine when I pulled them

bike ran fine before exhaust swap

Is this a new mod and did you install a jet kit or do any carb tuning?

Did you rejet the carbs for the free flow pipes? Running pod air filters?

no and no, but the plugs look the same as they did with the old system

Also the pipe that were on it (2-2) were aftermarket too, would the mac 2-1 reall flow that much more than an aftermarket 2-2?

Plus it seems to be ok for about 100 feet after I repack then it gets louder but muffled sounding as I go, and the packing is always jammed down the pipe after I get back and take it apart?

Do you not pack the "offset tube" style baffles?

A 2 into 1 has totally different flow characteristics than a 2 into 2. If you're in a hurry put the old pipe back on until you have time to tune the carbs for the new pipe.

Are you sure your pipe is supposed to be packed?

Is this a new pipe? If so, why are you adding packing. If it is old, sounds your packing is restricting the exhaust flow. I had a Mac 2-1 on my yamaha and it was loud even more so after some (lots of) miles.
I have a vance and hines on mine and it is LOUD, I dont need a horn the cars can hear me coming.

ok, so I tried it without packing, back to pretty much normal.

I now feel, DUH, that this pipe isnt supposed to be packed???

It is just a small pipe inside that is cut in two then welded back together side by side. Any packing I put in just ends up pushed into the outlet pipe and plugging the exhaust.

It is way too loud, and not good loud, straight pipe loud, which sounds a bit ghetto for me (sorry if you like that, maybe on a rat bike etc).

Any ways to make it quiet or at least mellow out the tinny buzziness of it?? Stove pipe insulation around the inside of the can? its stiff so maybe?

argh. The old muffler is too small for the MAC, which is ironic because it is too BIG for the old pipes and thats why I bought the MAC.

arghh...

if I had a clue how to do that I would in a second. Or was that somewhat tongue in cheek?:o

ecchh, turns out my rear brake hits the muffler too, how can a system made for my bike miss something like that?

no way to adjust it that I can see, the brake is right up on the footpeg, and if I tighten it any more the rear brake drags.

I am really salty that after all that I am going to be sticking the old leaky mickey mouse setup back on...

Post a pic. I'd like to see how close it is and where it hits.

could my brake lever be bent?

Are those scratches on the case from the brake lever? If so then it must be bent. Can you adjust it to engage the brake sooner so it wont hit the exhaust?

I had mentioned it above, but if I adjust the brake any tighter it drags when riding, not good.

the pedal doesnt touch as is, so the scratches could be from a boot, or maye the pedal brefore I had it?
