A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My wife and I were there. See below pic of the racing Kat and my Kat. My wife Cathy is in the background:

Here's a link to the thread including pics......

Thanks,

specs

specs

The specs are 998 cc High Comp. pistons, 1150 cams, 29mm CR Keihins (class limit), head port, stock valves, although I can go up one more piston size as our limit is 1025cc for Vintage Superbike Heavyweight. That sure is a beautiful spoked wheel Kat that showed up at Road America!

Congrats, Joe.
4 guys get you off the line and you pull 3 of them before the first turn. Boy that Kat is making big power.

Nice to see a GS on the track. What were the other guys on that got passed so quickly?
Is that an old school series 7 yosh on there?
It looked super smooth no drama, but was the clutch slipping at all?

I get to take mine out on the track in 3 days, getting excited. Thanks for sharing.

Are you using a Bandit front fork with 17" wheels?
It's forbidden here to use 17" wheels for classic racing...
Here's a Katana ( not mine) that I saw on a french track.
The fork and wheels come from a first gen GSXR 1100.

Just some of the differences between Euro post classic racing and the rest of the world John...eg,the Lockheed calipers would be legal anywhere but the discs wouldn't be legal in NZ or Australia.
Basically when this racing got started there were no 18 inch tyres on the market suitable for the job so making 17's legal was logical. In reality there's still only Avons suitable in 18 inch - and on this side of the world they're unbelievably expensive....
Joe - your bike is pretty mildly tuned by "down under" standards. it's obviously well set up - and well ridden too.

joe you going to be at mid ohio for vintage days?

btw that is just plain awesome!!! i want to turn my '79 1000 into one of these

Mid Ohio is not in the stars... although I may be going to Phillip Island for the Vintage Classic in January.

If you make it to Philip Island Joe you'll have a ball.

Be warned though - there's a trap for Suzuki runners there. The loooong lefts onto the start/finish straight combined with the tap placement can frequently lead to fuel starvation and a holed piston - usually #4.
A high flow Pingel and using the two outer fittings on the CR's usually fixes it. Two taps for Methanol.....

A Kiwi GSX1100 i had a bit to do with qualified very well last year then had this happen - the locals all said, seen that before.....

tried calling you back! call me tomorrow at the shop 503-232-7259 or
