ANyone running one?
Im looking into them now
tired of running two relatively inefficient ac units at 30 000 btus

Had heat pumps three times. Once as a primary with gas furnace secondary in St. Joe, MO. Very efficient system. Two other times as sole source of heat and a/c. Worked ok in Philadelphia, not so well in Pittsburgh where winter temps could be in the zero range for a week.

Location will matter, air to air HP are efficient down to mid 20 degrees temps, lower than that, backup heat kicks in (electric or gas). We have a mini-split HP in out bedroom, efficient, inexpensive heat. But, we also have baseboard electric for when the temps dip....

The other thing to think about, the air temp at the diffusers will be lower than what you you would have had with a gas furnace. Some say it feels "drafty" as the air is cooler than what you might be used to.

Great systems. Just have some limitations that need to be addressed.

Oh yes these will be ductless
Had ducting took it out of the house with the old oil furnace
all electric now

Mitsubishi makes a nice system, it's what I have and we like it alot. Are you doing multiple splits, maybe one in each room? They have systems that use one outdoor unit and can serve three or four indoor units.

Some come with electric heat built in, or you can install baseboard electric if needed. What climatic zone are you in?

Im in winter hell of Atlantic Canada
Thye are all the rage hereabouts
probably because of cheap chinese made units flooding the market
Had Mr SLim Mitsubishis in isolated server closets at work for years
very potent for an 10 by ten room made the heat almost bearable.

Definitely need backup heat source..... beware of the Chinese stuff. Mitsubishi has been around awhile, I spec them out all the time for projects. Like I said, have one in the house, no issues.

Yes well our units in closets were working at pretty much max cpapacity for years
had regular visits by the HVAC guys but never had repairs
Never broke down

Server closets are kind of unique, generally on an inside wall, never needing heat out of the unit. I've spec'd them out for that on many occasions. In rooms like that, it's important to keep the filters clean, and maintained.

I have had mainly good experiences with Mitsubishi mini splits as well. One annoyance I occasionally have are those dumb little condensate pumps.

so what is the best bang for the buck
Mitsubishi?
2700 installed for a no name type here
2700 canadian
Water to air is 6 grand to install

I've been around alot of them, Mits always has the least issues. 2700 for one system (outdoor unit and indoor unit)?

man one calcualtor estimates a 2700 a year savings in heating bill
crazy
thats a trane with a hspf of 10

Don't believe the online calculators.... but HP vs. an oil furnace, you will see some significant cost savings.

I am running 2 Gree units in my house. Electric baseboard for back-up( originally installed 28 years ago).

I am in Dartmouth, it gets cold here, it gets hot and sticky also. Before I put them in my heating bill, electric bill, was 900.00 in Jan, basically my power bill of the whole year was $5000, give or take. And the house was not really comfortable, basement was basically off limits in the cold season. House is 3200 sq ft. In the summer had to run dehumidifies flat out or would have major problems with mildew, mold and smells.

i have a 18,000 btu upstairs, 12,000 btu downstairs. Power bill is $313. Every month! Whole house is warm in the winter and manages to stay around 70f in the summer. Threw out the dehumidifier, heat pump takes care of that problem also!

best purchase I ever made, you will not regret it, just make sure it is a quality unit!

got any links on the units you bught
im in nb so our conditions are much the same
I have electric baseboard and a goo wood stove in the open basement
our bill is about 4 grand a year for electricity about 300 for wood
