A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone been on a Victory

Not that long ago I posted a similar thread asking if anyone had any experience with the V-Rod. It was a bad idea too. It became completely argumentative and counterproductive to it's original intent.
V-rod's is cool looking. Don't know why any one would bash another on two or even three wheels. Scooters, c-rockets, heck even a engine dropped onto the front of a bicycle works... Z'all good if they are done correctly ;)

Here is one that works for me... http://images.craigslist.org/01515_cEYoFFyG6uX_600x450.jpg

It doesn't take long at all. Probably a bad idea posting your thread with this crowd. Not that long ago I posted a similar thread asking if anyone had any experience with the V-Rod. It was a bad idea too. It became completely argumentative and counterproductive to it's original intent. I became so disgusted that I wound up deleting the thread in it's entirety. Hope you get better results.

Sorry, but this wasn't my thread. I was just trying to contribute, as I did on your V-Rod thread. But this thread wasn't even about an HD. All the bashing used to pi$$ me off. Now it's just boring, and a waste of an excellent resource.

Here are my two pet peeves with Harleys.

1... Its way over priced based on "NOSTALDIA". Damned thing is juat another bike really.

2... The look down their nose attitudes coupled with I am a BILLY BADAZZ attitude is a real turn off..just be a normal regular dude and it would be more well received.

Yeah. The Harley bashing is all in good fun.

waste of an excellent resource.

Agree with you 100% there. There is a lot of experience in the collective brain trust of all the members. Sure would have liked to have tapped into that in a positive constructive way myself...

Damned right I am dead set serious!!!! I grew up around the Harley douches and to this day they are STILL Harley douches!!!!!

Bunch of friggin dicckholes with a slow noisy bike and an attitude like they were the end all of all motorcyclists.

Then theres you Todd. Example of exactly WHY I don't like the Harley douche clan.

Perhaps they're only douches to you. For good reason!

No skin off my a$$, I couldn't care less about you or your trailer park opinions.

Nope..has nothing to do with me. I can go anywhere and not know anyone for 300 miles around and a Harley douche acts like a Harley douche...its not geographics or anything of the sort. They are universally azzhats...so I don't like or hang with the azzhats

Plain and simple.

Back to the subject at hand..

Victory is a great looking bike and although I have never been on one I wouldn't turn down a test ride, for sure.

To me, the engine looks kinda odd. It's like the jugs are too tall, or something.
Yes, it's gotta look good.

Well I must be pretty important to you!!! Your in the trailer right next door!!!

I mean whenever I post you come along like one of my deciples to pay homage to me..so I surely appreciate the attention and admiration that you shower me with!!

Me either. I had one on the hunting land back in MI though. Not my primary residence. Just something cheap to use for deer camp. Ive never had a trailer as a residence.

I have! and it was in my best friends back yard. I lived in it for almost three years. :D

Ran electric to it, dug a trench so I could have running water. Even dragged 100lb propane tanks out to it so I could have heat in winter.

Where is Colin Green when you need him?

This oughta stir it up a bit. A pic of my '63 Harley, along with my '69 BSA Lightning. And a later pic, circa '86, of the same Harley, in front of my trailer. Both were bikes I built myself, from basket cases. But the trailer I just bought.

Not to get back to the topic or anything drastic like that... but there are some BIG differences between the earlier Victories and the recent models. They have raised their game big-time in quality and reliability.

I'd definitely do some detailed research before buying one more than a few years old.

Not my cup of tea, but if you like that sort of thing, they're the sort of thing you might like. :D

I owned this BSA 650 for about 20 years. Not a great bike. All I ever wanted to do was get off of it most of the time I was on it. Mine lost oil pressure from the timing bushing wear. Seized a wrist pin and broke a rod. Big lump on the crank case, and the piston hit a valve and actually knocked the rocker arm hard enough to crack one of the rocker arm mounts which are cast as part of the head. Except for the bean counters in the big end and lubrication system (Not the way Bert Hopwood the designer wanted to build it) the motor might have been the best of the British twins. As it was, Bert's older design, the Norton, is better. You can do a ball bearing conversion, but I couldn't find anyone at the time to do it. It blew up outside of Willow, AK, kind of nowhere.

Never an electrical problem, always started, and wasn't a leaker. I don't want another. Buzzy, slow, and uncomfortable.

I was the second owner, and bought it as a non runner.

mmmmm 36 replies, a few (less than one hand's worth) of them with actual information on the original question, 8 or so with semi-information, and 25 with Harley (aka V-Twin) bashing or better yet - kindergarten name calling. Would have gotten better results over in OT

YEP - that's the GSR I know and love!

My eldest brother has a 2010 Vegas. He loves it. He recently rode 3000 miles on it in 8 days with me, and the bike was flawless. The fit and finish is very good, and it stands out from the other v twin cruisers. I suggest going to a dealer and asking for a test ride, they likely will give you one.
