DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

After the BMW bike night my buddy Doug and I rode home together on the 750's....
wow... This is number 5000!! Why has this thread still not been made into a sticky??

Went out for lunch in Wales with my lad on his GPz500S.

100 miles for a great steak and ale pie and 98 miles home again.

Picked up a few passengers on the way.

No video footage today because I forgot to fit the new SD card. GRRRR!

Still, a great day out.

4th of July Ride. - - 1979 helmet.

On summertime holidays I will allow myself to use my original helmet from 1979, only for local short rides.

Yes, that was a DOT helmet in 1979.
Has about 5/16th of inch of real hard stiff stryofoam type stuff with no padding, just a fabric cover.
CAn see that the stuff is so thin that the shell has to go further out for the ears. (reminds me of my dads highschool foot ball leather helmet, circa 1948).

THe helmet was originally blue, to match the kz400 I had.
THen late 80s I painted it to match the 650G .... and, now that I think of it, maybe more inline with the garb of the folks I was associating with at the time.
And, thinking of that period, ... I since have managed to wash out the stale beer smell from it.

On unfaired bike, and that helmet, really need the ear plugs. Man!

Had about an half hour ride. Had a round of disc golf. And about half hour ride back home.

Sometimes I think I should cut-up that helmet and throw it out.
But I like having it, for reasons I cant really explain.

Maybe I should smile for such selfie pics. But do have the wind in my face on this bike with that helmet.
The wind had Had tears running out of eyes.
A couple times I could not breath, like my nostrils closed up or something.

Hmmm, is that you when you were riding your 1920 Indian Scout? LOL

I think you need a bubble visor with that helmet, They still make them.

Is somewhat reminiscent of by gone era, probably why I like it.
But, ah, not really that old. har har har

I used to have those shields (the kind with a bill).

What do you think? ... there are probably folks that have never had a helmet that has those snapps.

bike sat for over 12 months ... battery's toast, but after 6 attempts with recharges in between, it finally kicked over on last attempt before leaving storage ... and rode it for a few miles (shorts & T-shirt ... doooope!)

but it wouldn't restart at end of the ride. new battery needed when the time comes

I have a brushed set on Frankenbike with no disks, it is actually pretty quiet. It is a bit bent up and flattened though.Much quieter than my V&H. WHen I get to that bike, I will take the baffle out and have a look....

Just completed a 2 day ride from Washington to Fallon nv today, and will be doing a reverse trip in about 2 weeks.

Mandatory photos (yes i know, 2/3 of the group were on harleys). I'm the only one not in the photos cause i took them

Did almost 500 miles today with my son on a pair of Guzzis, along with my nephew on his big Indian. Buddy of mine has my GS850 right now

After an infuriating mesage from a family member I was quite stewing with anger, wanting to unload in return. I was reminded by my wife, who I've told many time when she was in similar situations to play it cool, no need to get involved with long explanations, they are not owed one, etc, etc. Short and to the point..... Damn it's hard sometimes to take ones own advice......

I went for a ride.....
Briefly hitting 115 revealed that the missing fairing is indeed hugely helpful at blocking the wind.
I also blew by a couple of ape hangered Harley guys airing out their pits at a whopping 60 on the highway. A friendly cyclist I was not during my venting. .. But it sure made me smile.
