VMAX, T120 and Monkey were all out...

VMAX screwed my elbow up again, hurts like something fierce this morning.
T120 (British Road glide) is out and the sidecar project is on hold since my Dog seems to have an incredible anxiety around any form of 2 wheel transport.

Oh Yeah I also put a down payment on this puppy. 2017 FJ-09 with 10K miles... Boom baby, a CP3 is joining the heard. It will take over daily duties from the T120.

Seems like winter might be over huh J?

I can still count 2021 rides on one hand but we're getting there. Yesterday was a badass ADV bike ride with my punk millennial kid and his friend. Still some ice out in the woods and I did tip over once. Got wobbly in the very thin, tire wide dirt track between ice sheets. No biggy.

So I'd like to brag just a little because I'm the only one who made it through this mudhole in both directions. Out of pure dumb luck or maybe absolute dread of falling in that very cold, muddy water.

I was never really a dirt rider but was never afraid to take my beat up old jap bikes into places they shouldn't be. That said, my old corpse is a bit sore today.

I was out on the Triumph yesterday. As I was pulling into the gas station I saw a older gentleman on a older BMW. I pulled up to the pump next to him. We started chatting about the beautiful weather... Then he tells me about a breakfast that he and his BMW buddies have every third Sunday of the month. He told me to show up and that I'd fit right in. I'm not sure how he knows that? Maybe my graying hair. Or the fact I was all geared up. So yeah, I'm excited to meet up with these guys. April 18th 👍

The Triumph Tiger is a fun motorcycle. But I have to do something with the seat. It gets uncomfortable after about 2 hours of riding. I exchanged the "low" seat for the "comfort" seat. That helped but still not there. The seat is hard and not very conforming. I'm thinking about sending the seat out to have it re fomed. Also I need to shorten the shift lever about a inch.

The 550 and I went waterfall hunting for the first time this year after work today up towards the northern edge of the Dayton Metro area. Had a nice couple of hour walk through the trails there though I wish the places to view the falls were better situated. I only got to see two of the three in this park but it was still a nice way to spend the evening.

HAHAHA you of all people know that we can be hopeful but don't hold your breath... We could get smoked by a fluke snow storm, Old Man winter rarely goes out without a fight!

Joe bringing you places where you shouldn't be? HE's really taken to the R1200GS. I have to say, it's pretty nice!
Glad your Ole' BMW R bike is still chugging along well!
Hope you rest up and grab some more nice rides! Supposed to be stellar this Thursday!
BE well buddy, hope our paths cross again this year.

Help get my buddy's Yellow Bird up and running and went for his first ride, Nice trail and class 4 road ride to his house and back country highway (60-65mph) afterward. About 60 miles on the Monkey. I also put 50 miles on the VMAX just in commute (longer way).

It's riding season now!

Brought my BMW in today for service and the owner gave me a nice loaner. GS1250HP

My buddy has the last year of the 1200 and I love it. I just don't love the price tag... I would have a R1250R if I could justify the cost.

Been dealing with a lot of probate stuff this last year or so.
Some days I need to hit the solicitors, two banks and and and.
This is an old Viking town with narrow streets and crazy parking problems.
Took the bike yesterday and as usual had the whole deal sorted in less than half an hour.
Bikes make so much sense.

Ooh, you found a blurple one! NICE!

Yeah, FJ-09 is what all the cool kids are doing... :twistedevil:

I mean, the red FJ-09s, like my 2015, are obviously a little faster, but that Yammie blurple just tickles the ol' retinas in a very special way.

Did I miss some description of that, what seems to be an aux gas tank....?

.
Yessir!
It's a .75 gallon tank which basically doubles the range of the Monkey. Even with the 186Big Bore Kit I'm seeing about 90MPG. So 180 mile range with the reserve on the crash bars! HAHA

Blurple... I'm going to remember that!

Man would I have loved to get a red one (jedz colors) but I just couldn't find one locally in my price range. This one has low miles and was about $1000 less than what is listed on the Cycletrader. I really like it!

Jethro told me it's a great find but wrong color. HAHA I like it, Of course there isn't a FZ/FJ/MT/XSR - 9 I don't like.

Cheers!

I took the Triumph out for a nice after work ride this afternoon. I went to Zookies, one of my favorite Sports Bar/Wing joint. Then I stopped at the Beaver County Airport on my way home. I watched some student pilots do some touch and go's.
They were calling for rain this afternoon, but it never did rain. It turned out to be a beautiful evening. Temperatures in the mid 70's

I have about 1,100 miles on the Triumph. I love the motorcycle. But I really have to do something with the seat. It is hard and narrow. After about two hours I'm ready for a break. The foot peg position is spot on. The handlebars could come up and back about a inch.

After being otherwize occupied for a few days......
Yesterday morning was 50degF, got out for a little ride out of town, then back into town
566ifcfl.jpg

went for walk around beach and out onto pier for a photo walk . . . . and then found myself downtown at coffee shop having outdoor seating...
u86RYx6l.jpg

was good to sit out in partly-sunny sunshine, with about no time constraints for an hour or so. If had more time would have gone for ride further.

Today was about 40degF this morning, went for similar short ride
6k41uIVl.jpg

Will have more time in coming days, but also suppose to be rainy and back to seasonable average temps (high mid 40s).
Thats enough that should start working on getting GK back together.

@jedz there's a guy named Chillis over on advrider who's been posting about his extensively modded monkey, if you're interested.

That's great to hear. I know you've got your work cut out for you there. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

We're taking a spontanneous trip to Vegas then Southern CA. this weekend. I'l ride the FJR so I can return next week and my wife's driving the Kia so she can stay with thegrandkids for Easter and return whenever. I'd love to ride the GS on this trip. Even though it never leaves a drop on the ground, I'm getting tired of the smell of burning oil on the engine and seeing it slowly weep like it's crying for some TLC. Soon enough...

Sure looking forward to getting away for a bit. My parts for the GS should pretty much be waiting for me when I get back.

I did say "should...... start.... on GK..". Will see if I can make that ".. did start" on something. Maybe get the new pistons (well, new to me) on the rods.

Ah... how far "southern" CA?

Sorry, missed the should part. Hopefully it works out that you can get to it. Fortunately you're still able to ride though.

The route we're planning on taking from here to Vegas is about 650 miles then about 250 from there through Death Valley to Ridgecrest, CA. Not sure about my return route yet.
