A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Trevor - in 1980, I purchased the only GS1000S sold in Green Bay, WI. Unfortunately, a few years later I traded it on a GS750L. Really. I’ve been looking for a GS1000S ever since…..in fact, I bought my 700ES because it brought back memories of my 1980 GS1000S. I would consider a trade + cash with you ! ! !
:-) I’m serious

Thanks for your post...and your 700 is beautiful (I have an 83 750ed) my 1000s has to much sentimental value for me to ever sell it....I mean Wes Cooley actually stayed at my house 5 years ago and signed the tank....there is a 1000s facebook group where you could have some luck finding one for sale....
Cheers

Zero GSX in my RF.... unless you count the GSX-R-esque engine Suzuki put in. Still a fun old dinosaur to spend an afternoon on.

Ugh: My mint 1250 Bandit is hurting. Riding into work today, there's lots of deer in our area so I hug the centerline and keep it to 50-55KPH but it wasn't enough. A doe jumped out of the ditch and right into my path, I grabbed brake big time and steered into the other lane so I didn't run over her (and go down myself). She clipped the front, right side of me and broke everything she could. Headlight, front fender, upper fairing, side fairing, she glanced off my knee too but fortunately it isn't hurt. Really not worth fixing it unfortunately as it's only a $3500 bike totally mint and it would cost lots to repair it. 60,000km with no damage whatsoever until this. Beer time.
minor damage well worth fixing imo. Thinking of selling?

First blizzard of the winter headed my way should be here tomorrow so I went for what is possibly the last ride of the year. Added Seafoam to tank then topped it off with fuel ready for winter storage if need be.

Ron (1978750E) and I stopped for the best BBQ in Missouri, imho.

we also witnessed a bald eagle snacking on the remains of an armadillo. Couldn't get a pic of that.

Then we stopped at a small stream running under the highway with chystal clear water running under it so clear we could see
a whole school of minnows. For some strange reason the pic of the creek didn't work. I'll try again

There!!! Finally. That water was just begging for me take a big drink of it. Probably would have been ok but was just told about the town of Piedmont having tested positive for ecoli the previous day.
I would think the creek water was probably good.

I just got back from a small ride on the famous hwy 7 from Harrison to Jasper prior to sunset (this is Arkansas) and learned a good lesson about riding with proper gear.

My jacket got some blood splatter on the white, of course, but the face shield took a big hit right between my eyes. It was as though someone sling shot a tomato and scored big time.IMG_20220918_191557602 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr

Seems like one of the best days of this summer was yesterday, three days before autumn.

Both the 11yo and 8yo grandkids and my wife (grandma) all wanted to go for ride with our son (Justin Redmanson) and me (grandpa). But grandma didnt want to go too far, and stay off certain roads. So we figured out the logistics to make that all happen.

Driveway pic (no roadside pic).....

Justin, Tiger1050, with one kid.
Grandpa, RT with other kid (switch after stopping for ice cream) (Ice Cream being another grandma request/requirement.)
Grandma, Shadow500.

Recent weeks my wife (grandma) has been wanting to get back on the bike, has been 3+ years, so we had a couple practice sessions. (need some more).

On an other note: Just received replacement stator & R/R (are other postings about that story), so should have GK back on road before too long.

Fantastic, Dave. Sometimes I wish my wife would ride w/ me. She's a horrible pillion. When we were very young (early 20's) we each rented a moped on Martha's Vineyard. Had a great time. We attempted to do the same w/ our 2 sons years later, w/ her hauling the then 8 year old. Downtown rental place was very busy and lots of traffic. (and this was long before the recent infusion of Central American Immigrants via FLA). She lost her nerve, we returned the scooters. Since then, she's only ridden on the back of my GS two times. Neither was great for me. She'll never ride her own bike. Maybe it's for the best. She wouldn't enjoy the sketchy forest roads I like to travel anyway.

Close encounters of the Amish kind.

Out for a ride on the mountain forest roads yesterday. This doesn't surprise me anymore. Just sharing a bit of PA culture with yinz. Stopped at a turnout to take a drink when I hear before I see, the familiar clip clop, but also loud hip-hop music coming from what sounds like a fairly decent hi-fi system. I really should have taken video w/ audio. Yoder out for a Sunday mountain ride. I've seen these folks way up high in these mountains. I feel bad for the horses.
