A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I need a new stator, I could go to a local dealer and order it through them but is there any quality place online where everyone orders them? I need it for a 1983 gs750es

Stator rebuild

Stator rebuild

I just purchased one from these people. $79 plus shipping for rebuild/ exchange. http://www.tpe-usa.com/
American Made and with a warrantee.

Thanks Buffalo but it and the gasket from BB would be the same price as if i order it from Ricks directly. Interesting.

time to order

time to order

Electrosport does not have mine in stock right now. I emailed them a photo and they identified it as ESG010. I plugged in that designation and Google gave me a few options:

Ron Ayers (www.ronayers.com) says they can order it and I'll have it in 7-10 business days. Their price is the best - $96.

Ital.com has it for a few bucks more: http://www.1tail.com/Electro_Sport/Stators/Suzuki_GS500_Esport_Stator_-_3-Phase_-_ESG010/717352/

Anyone have experience with these retailers?

The picture on bike bandit of the one one that they say is mine is not, it looks very different.

I'd go for either Ricks or OE. The 750ES stator is the same as other GS models so you might want to search ebay for an OE one to compare prices.

For what its worth, I just had a shop change mine out. My 78 uses a 12 pole and the shop tried using an 18 pole because they couldn't access a new 12 pole. The 18 didn't create enough charging voltage at 5k rpm. The 12 does meet the 'stator papers' 14-14.8 v.

yes stator has to match the rotor (magnet configuration). It is not a matter of more (poles) is better unless you swapped the rotor to match.

Sounds like a shop staffed by idiots... hope they didn't charge you for experimenting on your bike.

http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/home-1-0.html I used electrex world--bought stator and R/R plus shipping, and tax, and british pound conversion fee, from UK for $179.00 --and it came in like 3 days---has 1 year warranty--works good last long time--this seems like the cheapest place i could find at the time about a month ago but the R/R's are expensive everywhere--posplayer would suggest a compufire from here http://www.usmotoman.com/product/vol...ystem/-1_17037 for $173.00 and there are a lot of theads on here for using a honda r/r with a sixth sense wire but i didnt trust buying a used one. Hope this helps some
http://www.tpe-usa.com/ like bmac said for $79.00 rewind in Alabama on the stator
---i may use them next time as electrex world does not need a core and i have the original and i think this was the cheapest place for just a stator--i got a stator cover gasket from http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=4021 Z1 for $3.54 shipping might have been a little high. Good luck

They tried but I didn't got for it.
Didn't realize the magnets needed to line up. good to know.
Great links.
