Brand new Ohlins SU143 shocks for GS1000's.

I just got word from Autumn that one member got the wrong shocks. Is there anybody else that ordered that got the wrong shocks?

Just to clarify things a little bit - these shocks mount eye to clevis, not eye to eye. If you are trying to mount them to a G model, they won't work as they mount eye to eye. Coincidentally, the G model is not listed in the chart for the SU143 application so I do not know why one would think they could do it if it's not listed.

In the future, if anybody is unsure about what they are ordering, make sure you actually talk to somebody in tech so that you do not order something by mistake. The guy with the G model got EXACTLY what he ordered - the SU143's, which have an eye to clevis mount. My group buy contact is an accountant. She rides, and knows plenty about bikes, but she does not know anything about the GS, CB, or GSXR line. The tech department knows though, but unless you talk to them you'll get what you order. In other words, if you just place an oder for SU143's, that's what you are going to get. If you call and talk to somebody in tech and ask first if the SU143's will fit your GS1000G, the answer you get will be no, they will not.

I have 2 sets left at $450 each. Get 'em while I got 'em. I hear these things are selling for $400 used but these are NEW for another $50.

There was some talk about "grey market" stuff on another forum and an admin suggested that these were grey market because of the price. Let me assure you that these are NOT grey market as you are getting them from the US distributor - not Parts Unlimited, but Ohlins USA. The factory warranty IS good, and they WILL honor it here in the US. What?s more is that these shocks come with a 30 day money back guarantee. Not much risk there.

PM sent. If you don't order both sets get back to me as I have another member that would like a set.

It looks like that is going to be it for the GS shocks. The demand just isn't there so I likely won't be getting any more. If a few happen to pop up I'll go ahead and post, but don't wait on me. Besides, the Vipex shocks should be on line soon right?

Well, I guess that's all folks. We are trying to find some more, but don't hold too much hope for that one. If we find them I will let all of you know.

Thanks longav8r

got mine today.

I ordered a pair for my '80 GS1000G. However they sent me the same ones that you have pictured. The bottom mount is incorrect for my bike. As I have the same style mount on the bottom as on the top. When I contacted autumn abuot the mix-up she had me return them. Saying she would take care of it. 1 month later I recived a check for the purchase price. I was never reimbursed for my return shipping costs. To top this off when I contacted autumn to find out what was up, she said I "Should have modified them to fit my bike." As others must have because she has sold a bunch to GS owners with no complaints. I AM ****ED Has anyone else had similar problems with Ohlins?

Yes, I needed the eye type mounts top and bottom. Instead the 143's I recived had clevis bottom mounts. And I was very careful to describe exactly what I needed. Oh well I'll stick with my Progressive 412's. At least they fit. Just wish Ohlins had been more helpful. For being one of the top suspension companys in the world I was very dissatisfied.

nothing personal but your model bike isn't causeing ohlin shocks to fly off the selfs. if you need eye to eye shocks try some zrx shocks they are eye to eye and shoud be had for cheap. Might want to check on the length. the model shocks that were listed were only eye to clevis not eye to eye. So what made you think these would have worked. the only differance between both the shocks listed was the adjustabily.

looks like clevis to me.... http://www.ohlins.com/Portals/0/productlist/documents/mountinginstructions/MC/SU143.pdf don't go by the little pictures they show, plus there was no listing of a g model anywhere to.

the 145 show eye to eye but all models listed use clevis
http://www.ohlins.com/Portals/0/productlist/documents/mountinginstructions/MC/SU145.pdf . rule of thumb if your model isn't shown and you don't want to take a chance don't buy.

Yea, Unfortunatly I went against my better judgement and ordered, knowing the details you have already mentioned. I had been in contact with Autumn via e-mail, and told her exactly what model I had and what type mounts it required. She assured me they would send the correct shocks. Anyway, it's under the bridge now. Thanks for the tip on the zrx shocks I'll have to look into thier compatibility.

JD, I'm glad you spoke up and proved your ignorance. I will also say that you had absolutely no grounds for being rude to Autumn, and it is for this reason that I am no longer going to supply these shocks. I got these shocks to you guys as promised and for a smokin deal, I was repaid by having my friend insulted and treated poorly by somebody that ASSUMED that Ohlins would custom make a shock for them. An SU143 comes as listed with a clevis bottom mount and your bike WAS NOT LISTED. I don't care what you put in the email, I saw it as it was forwarded to me - you said you wanted a set of SU143's and that's what you got. And then after admitting to your mistake, you still have the absolute BALLS to ask for return shipping??? As a matter of fact, I suggested to her that she charge you a 20% restocking fee for being a ******** and had planned to sell them to the next guy for a discount. She took pitty on your lack of reading skills and decided not to do so and now you flame her here for showing mercy? As far as I'm concerned you got off easy. And do I care about flaming you in a public forum? No, why should I? You didn't seem to care right? After all, she's not going to read this now is she?

To everyone that ordered, thank you very much for purchasing these shocks from us. Please remember that your shocks come with a warranty as well as support - meaning if you need to change your springs in the future, call them up and they will do it - free of charge even, but you will need to ship them out to do it. You do not need to go through Autumn to do this, but you can if you like. Your shocks were sold to you as they are to everyone else (just at a real nice discount that isn't offered through dealers), so you get the same perks as those that paid full price. Enjoy the ride, and I'm glad I was able to help at least some of you and at the same time, I am sorry I was not able to help everyone. All good things must come to an end, and honestly, I just don't feel like doing it anymore.

long_av8r,
You did those that bought the shocks a huge favor offering them up here. Don't let one disgruntled purchaser leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, it was his own fault. If you ever work out an exhaust deal on air-cooled Gixxers I hope you'll post about it here. I'll be the first one in line to buy one.

I bought the returned shocks. Autumn told me some guy returned them cuz they didn't fit. That they were still in the box never mounted. I thought that was a bit odd but jumped on them anyway. At that price I don't care if they were somewhat used, which they were not.

I am quite happy with the three sets I got.

I understand that Autumn isn't a sales person but just the deal facilitator. I think it showed poor judgement to give her any grief. The deal was on one particular shock was my understanding. Its unfortunate.

Thanks dude for the deal.

Whoa, no need to bunch up yer panties so quick. If you no longer feel like offering this deal, to bad. However do not use me as a scapegoat. I do not feel that I was any more than curt with Autumn. Definitely not rude or insulting. I had initially E-mailed my order, but ended up corresponding over the phone. I was very careful to explain exactly what model bike, and how the shock mounted. Autumn assured me that the correct model would be sent. When I sent them back I offered to pay more to get what I needed.
Several other shock manufacturers make models w/ interchangeable bottom mounts. So I figured Ohlins would do the same. This is what I thought Autumn and I had agreed upon. That she would send a pair of 143's w/ eye to eye mounts. As for tech support once I received the shocks? Her advice to me was to modify the clevises to fit. Though such action would void my warranty. So yes I am very irritated with how I was treated. I was lied to, then when I returned the parts.(In perfect condition as I hadn't even taken them out of the box) I am treated like the *******? I paid the return shipping out of pocket. Autumn told me I would be reimbursed for it. No such luck.
All in all this has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

1. You had absolutely no reason to even be so much as "curt" though it were a whole lot more.

2. I don't wear panties (but that attitude sort of makes point #1 for me doesn't it?).

3. You are flat out wrong - about pretty much everything.

I'm not going over this with you again. Just read the rest of the thread. Does it mean anything to you that you were the ONLY ONE to have had this bad experience? Or that you were the ONLY ONE that recieved the "wrong" SU143's? Or that perhaps for some odd, off the wall reason, Autumn chose you to be the one person she would lie to? In the nearly 90 people that were part of the group buys that I arranged with Ohlins, you were the only one. So you think maybe she needed some drama in your life and used you to stir it up? Sounds pretty illogical doesn't it? In the Marine Corps we have what we call "that 10%." That 10% represents the football bats, the soup salad sandwiches, the $3 bills. As far as my group buy customers, you are that 10%. I don't care to deal with the 10% of customers that you seem to represent. Like the Vipex guy, I don't do this for a living and that means that I can quit whenever I want and for whatever reason I want. In this case, you are that reason.
