A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi, looking to upgrades brakes on my bike with least changes. Has anyone swapped (upgraded) calipers while retaining same front end and rotors? Would love to know of a bolt on swap. I don't mind if I need to get new master/rotors and calipers, but would like to keep front end and wheel if possible. I tried search and couln't find answer to this exact question. Thanks for all... JOE (1981 GS1100E)

I have been wondering that myself, read somewhere that the GSX-R calipers are not a direct bolt-on unfortunately :(

I used the calipers from a newer Katana on my '83 1100ES stock forks and the improvement is great. I used the rotors that came from the donor Katana. I made adaptor plates to mount the calipers. I have drawings for the plate if you are interested.

which later model katana were they from? Just wondering how the thickness of the discs on each setup compare and whether it matters.

Were the adaptor plates difficult to make?? I don't have a machine shop etc.. but would like to upgrade the brakes... Thanks JOE

The plates were easy once I had all of the required dimensions. I did it the long way by making cardboard templates until everything lined up. After that, I transfered the template to steel and drilled and cut the final shape.

Oh yes.. definately inyerested in the drawings, or maybe take a photocopy of the template and just mail it.. whatever makes the most sense... What year and size katana?? Thanks.. JOE
