Carb bowl fuel level check with hose

I want to check the float height by the actual fuel level using a hose connected to the drain outlet of the carb bowl. Did anyone ever nail down a slick way to make the connection of a clear plastic tube to the bowl outlet?

I suppose I could drill a hole through some bolts and wedge a small (very small) plastic tube in the hole. But is there an easier way that someone has found?

I think someone said BassCliff had somethingon his website about it but I have been unable to locate.

slick connection? just use the float bowl drain hose, the hose doesn't have to be clear,
maybe a nipple is missing?

No drain nipple on BS/CV type carbs.

I made a level gauge by drilling a hole in an old floatbowl drain plug screw and using epoxy to attach a piece of copper tubing purchased at Home Depot. Those drain screws are very fine thread (.8 pitch I believe) so finding similar bolts can prove difficult.

This is also the case with VM29s and VM33s, no nipple.

I sacrificed an old 17mm cap from a float bowl and drilled a hole to insert a nipple.
